swine flu
The local fairs around here have had cases of swine flu to the point that the barns have been quarantined and then the animals sent home (stupid move I think) and locally one person has been confirmed to have contracted the swine flu from being around those animals.
One county fair sent ALL livestock back home with the 4-h members as precaution, those kids have worked tirelessly to get those animals in fit condition for show, but are now learning a difficult part of raising animals, you can't sell it if it is sick.

What a great timely reminder!! With summer fairs in full swing not only do you have to be cautious with the summer sun but with the animals that you are around. Sad thing for the kids. Not only getting sick but all the work that went into the animals.

Yeah, we have had a similar thing here in SW Ohio, Butler County. Last I heard 39 cases, all went through the same barn.
I feel bad for those who raised them and are now sent home.
