Night Vision Binoculars
Help me choose a decent pair.
The price swings from a couple of hundred bucks to a few thousand, and I don't know enough to make an educated choice no matter how much I read about it.
Background:
We've got regular binoculars in ea. of or BOBs. We've got a pair we take when we go on vacation. We've got a fourth pair at home, we use staring out of our high rise apt. windows.
Now when it gets real dark, our binoculars don't work so well. I need something better...I'm also thinking, grid down. (happened a few years ago) Total darkness. We're up in our high rise, scoping the street, trying to figure out what's going on.
What do you have, what can you recommend?

I can't help you. I have an older Sony Nightshot camera that's the berries at night. However, I'd be interested to see what others have to say as well. My camera works well but I think binos would be even better.

B - Night vision equipment, as you have found can run quite a wide price range. I used NV and Thermal equipment quite a bit in the military - none of those would be practical (cost prohibitive). There is a product called Eyeclops (scope or binocular) that can be had for around $40. It's actually intended for children, but it uses real night vision technology. It might be a good idea to try one. It's a small investment that may suit your needs, or better define what your needs are.
