repair neoprene? I have a pair of Cabela's glomits that have neoprene palms. I abraded the neoprene on the thumb some doing some chores outside and I have this tattered piece hanging. I was wondering if Goop rubber repair would work or just Super Glue the piece in place. Never had neoprene do this before so I could use a little advice on this. Thanks ahead of time.
There are several neoprene cements on the market. Some come with neoprene patches. That's how I fixed my wet suits.
I don't know if this would apply, it's an idea. but there's that handle goo, I can't remember the name of the stuff. It's used to put a layer of "rubber" on tool handle, perhaps a layer of that stuff could be brushed on.

There is a product called Aquaseal that is made specifically for Neopreen. It is similar to Seamseal (it's actually made by the same company but has a different compound). It is a liquid rubbery substance that goes on gooey but dries very flexable. I have used it for Neopreen repairs with great success. It's bond is so strong you couldn't pull it back apart if you tried.
To use it you just sew the tear back together with any old thread just to hold it together for the seal. Then you dab the product on (I have found a toothpick to be the best applicator because it lets you put it right where you want it) and let it sit over night. It may look lumpy when you apply it but it is a liquid and is very self-leveling. Just lay it flat and it will be completely smooth as glass by the time it dries. Once it is dry you will have a 100% waterproof repair. And trust me, the fabric will rip before the sealed repair fails. Works on anything but was designed just for Neopreen. I've used it on tents, Gortex fabric, and much more. That stuff is awesome. It's about $6 for a 1oz. tube
Also: You don't need to use a patch. As a mater of fact I would advise not using one because it will create an unnatural spot on the Neopreen that will most likely cause wear along the margins of the patch and start a new hole as well as being less flexable. For best results just sew the tear and apply the product; it will be a more than adequate repair.
