Mrs. Crash and I headed out on Wednesday afternoon. We stopped for the night as we entered North Carolina. In the morning we headed for Chimney Rock and spent most of the day there. Here are some pics of the view on the climb up the the Chimney Rock level.

During my misspent youth, I went the Chimney Rock on a few occasions for rappeling training. I never knew about the plaque and dedication. It is an absolutely beautiful place!

We continued up to a place called Exclamation Point. Here's the view on the way.

Just to the left of the center peak (mostly obscured by the branch) there is a house. Waking every day to the view afforded from that vantage point would be pretty special.

Wow, WOWIE......great photos. Beautiful country.

We arrived at the camp and were struck by the beautiful colors. The timing for the trip was perfect. The color changes were in full swing. Saturday night it was fairly windy (good sleeping weather) and we noticed on the way out that many of the trees that painted hues of red and yellow across the landscape had lost some of their luster as the leaves lost their struggle to the wind. On today's weather map it looks like some pretty big storms moved through the area last night. As I said - the timing was perfect.

Really nice pictures. I've been wanting to go to Chimney Rock for some time now.

No wonder people move to NC, beautiful pictures for sure. Hope the same thing doesn't happen to the Devils head as what happened to the Old Man of the Mountain in New Hampshire.

I gotta start taking more pic's on my trips, I guess I just remember the cost of getting them developed way back when.
I still have a lot of 35mm file that have never been developed.
Now with the digital camera, you can just keep shooting.....
