Leg Rolling Cordage
This is the method I use to make cordage from plant fibers.

Here's how I extract the fibers.

It's hard to explain by simply using words or pics, so hopefully you have a good link to the WWW.
I first learned this method at primitiveways.com.
If you want to double the cordage over to increase it's strength and abrasion resistance here's a simple way to do it.

...along with some tips on harvest. These methods can be used for other materials too; strands from socks, shirts, leather, etc.

Really excellent RWC. That is much faster than the way I do it. You make it look so easy.. I've just got to try this way. Thanks!!

Thanks!
and YCC I've got some ideas to make it even easier and more consistent. I was thinking of taking a piece of buckskin or the like, placing it on a flat surface and rolling on that. You could get much longer and more consistent rolls, just need something that will grip the fibers as you roll them.
My videos don't really do this technique justice as it's much faster once you get the hang of it. You can tell in the vids that the folds of my pantleg kept getting in the way.
