My New GoTo knife with Action Pics

Here is the knife I made along side the one given to Zack.This will be my new knife and will replace the brown one I posted before. This is the knife shown in the bushcraft knife thread now finished. 5" blade, 4.5" handle, 3/16 thick spine. Osage Handles and Black glass liners with Homemade Mosaic pins -the Star of David-My best pins yet! I will make a cross draw kydex sheath for it too.

This knife was made using the file setup I posted before and is made for hard work, plain and simple.

Also a few pics splitting wood yet the 1/4" scandi bevel is fine enough to neatly shave nice thin slivers for a fuzz stick.

Nice work! Looks like it could take what ever you threw at it.

I do like it...them. Nothing overtly fancy. Just a really snazzing looking worker.

New toys are awesome.

I going to drill the lanyard hole out as I dont like the way it came out. I am thinking to making a tool that will press the lanyard piece into the shape I want when installed on the tang.

I dont know how some makers get the piece to flare on both sides. I can flare one but the other is problematic.

You mean to just flare the tubing in the handle scales. This can be done with flathead screw heads.

I got tired of messing withit so I drilled it out and cut the endcap of the handle off at an angle and will fit a piece of Bacote on it and re drill the lanyard hole. I went to the hobby store and bought thin walled brass tube. I used to ball bearings and the vice to flare it and it work very well.

Once the glue has cured in the bow oven I will get the endcap finished and be ready to make the kydex sheath.

Paul how do you use wood screws to flare the brass? the brass I was using was just reg brass piping and I think too thick for proper flaring.

Ok I fixed the offending lanyard and decided while I was at it I would add an endcap of Bacote. First time trying it and I think it looks ok , but if I were to do it again I would laminate the block for the handles and cut the scales.

Ty crash. That was the first one I have ever done. The Bacotoe looks good on the knife to me but I am color blind so It may not look right to the rest of the color seeing ppl :)

no, no; it works, and works well.

i haven't done any butted composite scales yet, but i need to learn. i plan on starting some folders soon, and stuff like that makes a nice touch.

That does look good together. You are right, the thick wall may be a little hard to do. To do this, you would more than likely do it the same way you did the ball bearings. If you used a vise.
