Cranium Caps
According to Science Daily there are 300 per 100,000 new head trauma injuries in the U.S. each year. That's 0.3% of the population.

That figure must surely escalate during a catastrophic natural disaster such as an earthquake, tornado or hurricane. Head injuries from flying and falling debris must be a leading cause of injury or death although I have no statistics to back that up. In any case, I'm curious if you have considered some type of "cranium cap" (helmet of some type) to include in you preps? There are all kinds from military to cycling to climbing to construction. Anything is better than nothing, I would think. So, what have you done to protect yourself?

I've got a couple of ordinary hardhats, plus the bump caps they issue on completion of CERT.

I use Smith Vriant Brim Helmet for skiing but it could probably come in handy otherwise. Wasn't really planning on making it part of my BOB. Kinda bulky.

I currently have one of these that I use for "ladder work" (I am an extreme chicken for heights). I think will work for BO applications to protect the old "Brain housing group"

Lots of Snow Machine helmets, Bicycle helmets, hard hats. I would like a good rock climbing helmet with a light.
