Tough Turkey season

Well the first week of the season is behind me.Three more weeks of getting up a 3:30 am after getting home from work around 1am is going to get rough.

I have seen two toms this week.One was in a field with 4 hens to keep him busy.The other one got swallowd up by some magical hole in the ground some 30 yards out of gun range.I dont know what happened. I was talking real nasty to him. He liked what I had to say and he was moving toward me fast and all worked up.Then like houdini he just flat out vanished.Im still shaking my head about that one.

Monday is a new day and I will be out before the sun is up.Listening to the peeper frogs and keeping an ear out for the sound of a gobble on the roost.That has got to be my favorite part of the season.Just being out in the woods listening to the birds wake up and start their day.

There are lots of hens out and about up here. One visits the yard every morning to see if there are any scraps under the bird feeder. :)
