Evac Blanket
I picked up a swedish medical evac blanket from Sportsmans Guide This winter to leave in the car "just in case":

Finally put it to use on my recent trip into Mexico and was very happy with it. While it is a little heavy, it is very warm and big enough for two to cuddle under. It is also toughly made, has a great amount of loft, and definitely waterproof. It had a bottle of Gatorade dumped on it and it pooled up in a fold. I gingerly carried it out of the tent and dumped it on the ground, then cleaned it with a damp towel. The heavy nylon stuff sack is sewn to a corner of the bag so you cannot lose it, and it has a double strap so you can wear it as a backpack. The surface itself is a lighter Nylon.
And on our way out of the canyon with my wife and her broken arm, I used it as padding between her and the door of the jeep wagoneer. She also wrapped herself up in it to keep warm on the drive back across the mountains to San Diego.
I am going to pick up another next week as I think it is a very well built product and will use it many times.

No problem! It's not a sleeping bag, it's a quilt.

I get the sportsmans guide catalog and a while back they had the military surplus sale, where you could get 4 of those for around $15 each. I wondered how good they were since they said "do not wash" so I never ordered any.
Now I just might get some of those for christmas gifts this year. Thanks for the review!!
