I'm truly overwhelmed by this show of generosity.
If I may take a moment to divulge a little more about myself, I was raised up by some hardworking folks who taught me that you earn it or you do without. That being said I have a hard time asking for and accepting help. There have been some other things in recent weeks that have happened that took pretty much all of my savings, just enough is left to keep the account open.
Our family is in a pretty bad way right now. we are having the tv turned off, and cutting some other bills out that we are going to have to learn to live without. Just keeping the lights on right now is a struggle. I've been doing yard work to keep some money coming in but it just isn't enough, it's barely keeping us afloat. Hopefully things will pick up and I can get back to roofing and steady income.
I can't express just how much this means to my family right now. There are things the kids need that I just don't have the money for. I've been worried how I was going to meet their needs lately and this will go a long way to making sure they have what they need to be clothed and clean and presentable for school. All we can say, for lack of words, is THANK YOU ALL VERY VERY MUCH. May the Good Lord's blessings come back to you all tenfold.
none of this money will be spent on wants. Only on things that we need. no knives or toys, or anything like that. The kids need things that I'm not able to buy right now and this will help us tremendously. Thank you again for this blessing. Even my health must take a second priority to their needs. We really can't say thank you enough.
I don't have much of value, but I would like to donate some braintan buckskin that I made, to the forum to be raffled off or bid on, or however the DOC should choose to handle it. It would make me feel better about accepting this gift because I would feel as though I had contributed something to the fund. I hope the DOC will accept this little contribution as my donation to the dept, and handle it accordingly.
Ted, I will keep that in mind. Thank you for offering. I hope I don't have to take you up on it, but I will remember the offer if I do have need.
Thank you all for this help. I wish I could find better words to thank you guys. I hope you will accept my offer as well. I have never met such kind and generous folks. You all are near to my heart. God Bless you all.

YCC it couldn't go to a better person.

YCC,
How old are your kids and are they boys/girls. I spent the past year on unemployment and just recently now getting on my feet. I understand completely your kids coming first (That is the difference between a Dad and just a father). I might have some clothes for the kids depending on age and sex. Might have a few other things laying around. Please let me know. Besides clothes what might your kids need. The other members might be interested as well. I heard a saying along time ago in the Marines " This too shall pass". No matter what or how bad it will pass, and there will be brighter days ahead.

Good choice DOC! I'm happy for you YCC.
-
Best of luck to you YCC! Man, like Ted said...I'll help how I can also!
-
Congrats, YCC.
Just a thought here. One thing I hear over and over from folks that are a bit older than myself, you know Moses and Methuselah, is how hard it is to find anyone to do handyman work. No ones seems to want to do the odd jobs that older folks can't do anymore. I have no idea what the economy is like where you live or how large a customer base you might have but it's just something to consider.
Good luck!

The economy is messed up here. The only roofing I've been doing is insurance jobs. People are under enough financial stress, they'd rather live with a leak than spend money to fix it. I've been doing whatever work I can find. For the last week I've been doing yard work. Yesterday I ran a chainsaw and cleaned up, dug a few holes, etc. I have a lot of skills, but folks seem reluctant to even spend that little bit of money, especially on yards. week before last We remodeled two closets for some folks who adopted 2 girls. I can even do mechanic work. Right now, I'm taking any work I can find. Even working on Sunday last weekend.
I have twins, a boy and girl, both 14, and another boy, 11. I'd have to guess at their clothing size, but I'll find out later (the wife always handles that stuff lol). Right now they mostly need socks and shoes, and grooming / sanitation type stuff. toothpaste, floss, soap, stuff like that.
I really appreciate all of you guys offering to help. I'll find out about clothing sizes and get back to you this evening. Got some more holes to dig and some trees to remove today.
Thank you all very much. It might not seem like a lot, but that money will go a long way on the things they need. sure you all remember what school social life was like. Hasn't changed much here in the Old South. I appreciate all of you.

Thats the way it is here also, I had a good job running a window and door installation crew for a building supply company, made good money, but the building stopped when the economy "crashed, There is zero building going on here now, there was so much then that construction workers were coming here from Las Vegas, Phoenix and even Mexico,, I suspect its the same throughout the Country. I hope it gets better, Best of Luck YCC and everyone else who may be struggling, I agree, I have never met a better bunch of folks than I have here , Thank you WSF :)

I'm glad we could help with a few things, YCC. You've really contributed a lot to the Forums. This is one way we can say "Thanks!" :)

YCC. Congrats, hope it helps, good choice DOC.
I look forward to your contributions to the Forums, as well.
Ecomony sucks here also, but luckily we have just laid low and are making it.
If you put up that skin, I will bid on it.
