I'm pretty sure it's not possible to start fire with rocks. even flint requires steel for spark draw. I have read a few books on this, even tried it with the highest degree of failure. If it is possible, and anyone succeeds in starting fire with only stones, I want pictures and details.
Even Mr. Russel Cutts, who wrote the best material I've found on primitive fire-making says that it is impossible. I have talked to several people who swear they can make fire by banging two rocks together.. I hand them rocks that make sparks when struck together, and try as they might for hours, I have never seen a fire started this way.
not trying to crush anyones dreams, but I wanted to point out that the spark draw is just too short when using stones. If the paleoarchaeologists who study and write books on this say it's not possible, and all my experiments lend toward the same confirmation, then I have to logically believe it's not possible.
If anyone can do this, I want to see it.
