a little venting..if I may

On November 18 I put in an order to a knifemakers supply house I have used before. I have no idea if I can name it so I wont name the Texas business. I needed some foil to heat treat stainless knives and while I knew I still had enough (at the time) for a couple of knives I thought it was a good time to make an order. I also ordered a few other materials but the foil was the important item. Sunday (12/27) I sent an e-mails asking about my order.

Monday I find a message on my phone telling me they need to hear from me about my order so I call them back when I get a few minutes. I am told that there is no record of my order and that when I placed the order (on line) I must have left that page before it processed. She told me to re-order and it will go through. I paid through paypal and when I asked about this she said it would be fine.

Mom didnt raise any fools though and I had a funny feeling if I re-ordered, I would get re-billed so I went through my older e-mails and found the order # in a invoice. I called them back.

I talked to someone else at first this time. He asked for the order number and when I explained what I had been told he took the number and put me on hold. The phone was answered shortly after by the lady I was dealing with and she told me he was looking for my order and could she call me back. I said yes but before I could hang up she said the order had been found and she will get it right out to me.

I made sure she knew that I was now out of foil and I have two on the bench for customers and I need the foil. She said she understood and it would be on its way.

15 minutes later she called me back to ask how I planned to pay for this order! Thank God I dont live anywhere near this place!! I explained (again) that I had paid for the order in November andI was put on hold again. After a little bit I was told that the payment was found and that while most of my order is on backorder, the foil will be on its way.

I checked the UPS tracking system a few inutes ago and it isnt sceduled to be delivered until 1/8!!! Nice to do business with em...I will go elsewhere!!

I would think if you can't put a name to the company, then the town, street address etc. would be appropriate. I would bet that if they are that bad with paper work, with your order, then every other order in the basket would be in the same lost world. Customer service is the name of the game today.

Based on your description, I'm pretty sure that I know which company you are talking about. Feel free to name the company. When we find good service, or bad it's worth sharing. I have found that when somebody lists a bad experience that sometimes others will share similar experiences or say that they have not had any problems.

I havnt had troubles with them until now but just based on the phone calls dealing with this, it seems they are very unorganized. It might have been just dumb luck that the other orders came through ok.
