I am prepping for whatever happens.... As for 2012.... Kinda like the millenium scare? Or the big Quake that was supposed to level the new madrid fault back in 1990/91...... ? I personally think it's just another scare tactic.

12/21/2012 is simply the end of the Mayan calendar. Our roman calendar ends every year without cataclysm. 12/31/2009 isn't doomsday and neither will 12/21/2012 be.
I'm always prepared. I just hope I make it to 2012. I need to get through 2010 first.

No I don't worry about 2012, this comes from a Society that predicts a lot of stuff that never happens, and then they disappeared... Hmmm how come they didn't see that coming.
I am prepared for a lot of things and I am sure there are things I am not ready for, if the world is going to end then getting ready is a moot point cause we are all gonna die, otherwise it wouldn't be the end of the world.... lol... what a joke. The world ain't going anyplace except down the crapper.
Sarge, the movie looks kinda cool but to me seems like another Day After Tomorrow, to me.

i read an article not long ago about a myan leader talking about the whole 2012 thing.
he said the myans NEVER said it was going to be the end of the world.
they just simply made a point to stop where they wouldnt get lost and lose track of the date. they had always planned on making the calendar longer.
he also went on to say that he was really sick of all the 2012 questions as they have bigger problems to solve.
i myself think its strange that none of these people think that dec. 21st 2012 is an odd date for the world to end.
i mean cmon, winter solstice? really?
it makes me wonder if people in the year 1,000 did the same thing.
im betting they did.

I have plenty of Biblical reasons to think the year 2012 is no more likely than any other year to mark the "end of the world," but I won't get into them here.
The 2012 thing doesn't have a bit of merit that I can see.
I even saw an interview with a Central American man who came from a tribe that was supposed to be descened from the Mayans, who was supposed to be an expert on the subject. He said there was no merit to it.
These things have been coming and going for years. You can't let them stop you from living your life. Just being reasonably prepared for whatever is likely to happen is hard enough, let alone being prepared for something that is almost guaranteed not to happen.

I watched for the second time the documentary on TV outlining the various theories on the world either ending (or starting a new beginning) in 2012. Anyone else see that program? Thoughts?

It is the end of a Calendar NOT the end of the World. If the Mayan were such great prognosticators they would have known to kill the first Spaniard that showed up and hidden from the rest. Or at least hidden their gold as well as the Aztecs did, it's still never been found. My guess is it's deep under Mexico City. Under what appears to be solid bedrock. They were good enough engineers to pull that off.
Anyway most if not all prophocy is give in generalisms so broadly stated that they can mean anything.
I've stocked up on Bubblicious buggle gum for the aliens, practicing head shots for the zombies, and have have a 5 gallon container of Holy water in a backpack sprayer and silver bowie knife and silver headed tomahawk for the unholy, undead, bloodsuckers and werecritters.

the end of my life, your life, everybody's life is up ahead there...somewhere. Maybe tomorrow, maybe in 2012, maybe 50 years down the road.

Besides, if you're not guilty of anything why be worried? There are ways to give out info without divulging one's identity. I talk on the phone constantly with Ken; & the only problem I've faced is getting off of the phone with him; the calls usually last an hour or more. Anyway, it sounds to me that you're the brave one of the bunch; you've given out lots of info over the last couple of years. i have put to much info at times though. i like being friendly but i do believe it would be wiser if i didnt give out so much. ive hade bad things happen from a girl i knew giving out my info and the info of some other girls to some creep across the country. she didnt give much but before we knew it he knew everything down to the schools we were going to. had it written down even and would threaten them if they didnt give him more info on other girls and participate in phone sex. that was really scary. he knew everything.

right now i have my business site listed in my profile and it has most of my info (this is the "to much info" i was mostly thinking about) but i also have a better security system then i did 6 months ago. i sleep right next to my bf, a machete, axe, shotgun, and a little alert dog who would warn me of intruders. i woulda preferred a big dog but ill take what i can get. doors are always locked and im in a gated community. this neighborhood sucks though. it like has no sole. every thing is so pruned. eww

The Mayan "Leader" who was quoted here obviously has no clue how the Mayan Calander works and makes the rest of his comment suspect. The Myan calender is not a liner concept like ours, it is cyclical and therefore never actually ends. You couldn't "make it longer" if you wanted to, that's not how it works. The calander is very intricate. To understand it, imagine a wheel made up of a couple dozen or so rows of hieroglyphs or symbols representing individual stars, planets, animals ect. These glyphs are strung together to have each day represented with different combinations of symbols. i.e. Tuesday is just tuesday to us, but to them think tuesday represents the day Saturn, Jaguar, Palm leaf, rain drop, boar, wind ect. In that exact order. Tomorrow may have the same string with only the glyph sun replacing wind. That particular combination of symbols only occurs once, Ever! When all the permitations of symbols occur, that is considered the "Era" as being completed and the calander starts over. It takes about umpteenthousand years for the cycle to complete itself and the Maya believe we are now at the end of the lfourth and last "Era".
What is incredible about this wheel of symbols is that when the string of hyroglyphs reaches certain days, meaning certain symblols are represented on one particular day, those days exactly match planetary alignments. This might not be that big a deal to some, but remember that on certain years, Mars may be on one side of the Sun and Jupiter on the opposite side, and some years they are on the same side. This calander accounts for that and is accurate to one one-thousanths of a day compared to our present day technology. It's really a mind-fu*k the more you read about it and all the intracacies of how the thing works and the fact that when it was created, it wouln't be until the age of computers before that degree of astronomical accuracy would be achieved. The reason so much is made about 2012 is because most people who understand the calander believe that either aliens or a Devine being helped create it just because of the awsomeness and impossibility that a stone age people could create it on thier own. Oh yeah... and that day, you know... that one day on Dec. 12, 2012 when the cycle repeats?????? It just happens to coincide with our solar system aligning itself exactly in the middle of the plane of the Milky Way Galaxy, with ALL of the planets aligned on the same plane. That won't happen again for another 250,000,000 or so years. Wrap your head around that a while.

If dec. 20th 2012 truly will be the day the world ends then my only preparations will be to gather up my friends and family, throw a bunch of weenies and burgers on the grill and some beers in the cooler and try to have the best time possible until the earth explodes.
And if it doesn't then hey, at least we had a good cookout.

Do you want the commercials removed, too? I've heard the "End of the World II"* commercials might even be better than Super Bowl.

One of the girls I work with went to see 2012.She is now paranoid about the end of the world.She thinks when the sun and planets line up we are done for.All I could say to her was not to take anything from Hollyweird to heart.And that in "98" the planets alined and we are still here.

Last night one of my clients was asking what I thiught about it, His kids (12 & 16) believe this will happen and told him he should just spend all his money and enjoy the next few years. I thought they might just be trying to get him to buy them things but he said they really believe it.
I bet there will be a lot of crazy stuff people do as it gets closer.

I'm seeing documentaries every week on 2012 end of world issues. Regardless if it makes any sense or not, December 21, 2012 will be recognized by the majority of the world as a special day. In fact, it has the potential of making Y2K look like a picnic.
Ya, that is the 2012 I'm worried about crazies, creating a chaos over a turn of a page on the calendar.
