Yup, I got fired from my wonderful job of 2 days a week of the most BS I have ever had to deal with in my life. I haven't figured out weather to be happy or pissed. Aparently I used the "f" word and customer heard me. I was talking to another employee but I was fired for saying it to my manager, which never happened. The manager didn't care but supposedly corporate says that they have to fire me. I really don't think that they would fire me on the spot for some BS like that anyway. I have worst luck with jobs, and now that it is so hard to find a job...I really don't know what I am going to do. My bf is still working but we have a lot to take care of and that includes horses and dogs. So anyway, I just needed to vent...

Wow we use the "F" word all the time, of course it is on a Military Base and you know how us Vets talk. :) That really sucks and I say "F" them if they have to fire a good worker for that stupid sh!t. Good luck on the job hunting.

I am so sorry to hear that Rebel Chick. It seems that they will find any reason to fire someone nowadays. I hope that all works out with you and your animals. I have just got something worked out for mine. I know what you mean right now though. I never know if I am still going to have a job fromone day to the next right now.

yea, I was the only one that went in, on time, did my job, did everyone elses job, and left on time. Without causing problems. Everyone there was either up the manager's rear end or in high school and had big boobs. You see, the tall skinny pretty girl cusses him all day every day and she didn't get fired. And she is the most worthless piece of crap that place has, she is rude to manager, other employees, customers! And the last time I got fired it was in a totally different place, was told to find something to do, I did and got fired bc I wasn't doing my job. I can't seem to make anyone happy. Should I be a lazy bum like everyone else? Seems to work for them.

Hang in there - you'll find a new one. When you are looking for a job, treat it just like that is your job. Spend the day looking, networking, etc. Eight hours minimum. Until you find a job, that is your job. If somebody says no - thank them and move on till you find a yes.

That is a good thought. I have already put in several applications as i was going to leave this place anyway, they wouldn't give me any hours. To walk in an apply anywhere anymore is impossible, they tell you to go home and put in an app online. Then when they do that, you can call them, NOT go in bc you can NOT talk to anyone is person, and they tell you that they will look up your app and give it to the hiring manager. You will never talk to the hiring manager. So I keep calling and bugging people, I like the oldfashioned way better.

Sorry RC, but the old fashioned way doesn't work today. When you submit your application on line a robot will generally scan it looking for key words the corp thinks are important. If it doesn't find them (or in some cases...does) then your app will not get past HR.

When you apply for a position look carefully at the wording and make certain you follow it to the letter.

For example, suppose an add says, "Full time help needed. Seeking highly motivated, energetic individual for customer service position."

Then your resume says, "I am a highly motivated, energetic individual that believes in excellent customer service."

You want to reflect the same wording in your resume and be able to support your claim, of course.

Good luck and as Crash said, finding the job is now your job. Oh, and networking is your best source of jobs. Let your friends and family know you are looking!! Someone will often know of a position before it actually opens up so you are ahead of the posting.

Welcome to the ranks of the unemployed. At least i have my military retirement to go with my unemployment check. Just keep trying. look for smaller business's or companies that want a go getter

Sorry to hear about that, sounded like you enjoyed that job.
It sounds to me like you are some one that is ambitious, smart, and used to taking care of yourself and kin. (just being here at this forum tells me that.)
I will also repeat, your job is now getting a job, and I'm sure you imitation and toughness will be a big help.

We, both DW and I, are currently unemployed and have been for a while.
(It's O.K. we refer to ourselves as being retired)

Started back in 1999 when the factory we both worked at, (33 years and 16 years, respectability) was sold/closed/torn down.

Best thing that ever happened to us.
We did have a small pension from our years of service, so basic bills were met.
We were ready for that possibility, (and had a 10 year jump on the people now)

We had been living below our means, so it was a test of our skill sets and will.

Went to school, got several other jobs, on and off, knowing that we really didn't need to work. (extra money is nice, but it is amazing how much you don't need, it you work at it.)

I guess if I had to, I would go back to work, but prefer to let the younger ones that need the jobs worst then us have them.
Keep the faith, look forward to the next door, now that the old one is closed................also sounds like your old boss was Richard Cranium

that is also great advice. Thanks, I will keep an eye out for that. I have been trying to get in with a bank, it seems to be a good start to a good job.

I was really being sarcastic. I hated that job and every aspect of it. I hate people, especially grouchy truckers, they are the worst (no offense, I know that are not all like that, my bf is one) And 3 manager that none of them knew how to run the place, hired a bunch of bimbos that have no idea what they are doing. They actually wrote me up one day for not having my name tag! It was in my purse. my bad...can even mess up one time there. They will write you up for everything and its stupid. So I guess that I am more relieved than pissed today. Gunna set up for a yard sale this weekend and get rid of some stuff, refi the house and trk and whatever else, So i guess I better get to it.

As for finding something else to do, now I have time to spend on my colt training him, which I was so excited to start yesterday and that "yatch" f'd up my day. So I didn't get started, and that made me even more mad. But, now I can spend everyday with him and just get him done.

And I appreciate the compliments I can be very ambitious and smart but quite a bit of the time I tend to be lazy, I need to motivate myself to things. As for taking care of everyone, yea, I am so used to do that, that when I left my good job I couldn't anymore, so since then I bounce back and forth trying to find a decent job, I seem to keep getting these bummer jobs tho, that can't appreciate a hard worker.

if your knowledgeable about the care of animals you could be a pet and farm animal sitter. ive done it 20$ for an hour

Sounds like customer service ain't yer bag of tea. Maybe working with animals or behind the scenes in a customer oriented environment.

Regardless, it sounds like that place was a joke, so you're probably much better off movin on.

I am so sorry you have lost your job because I no how hard it is to fine work this days. Where my husband works all the men use the "f" word, even the bosses. I think people are just looking for reasons to fire the workers now.
My husband is a crain operator on the Ms. river and the work there is very slow , the bosses are running over the men because they no that if the men quit, then they are just out of luck.
About 2 months ago the owner of the company got on the crain and cussed my husband, gritted his teeth in my husband face,called hin every "f" word he could think of all because of a lie another man told trying to get my husbands job. Well my husband did quit and told the owner where he could stick his job.While my husband was off work the two weeks the owner found out that he had been told a lie about my husband so they wanted him to come back to work. My husband is stubbord and wasn't going to go back to that few hrs a week no good job until after looking for work that he had been doing for 40 years, was told that there is no work out there by every place he went.So he did go back" for now"Maybe your boss will also call and want you back.

i'm sorry to hear that. it's unsettling to loose a job, frustrating to be fired and worse to be wronged.

i wish you the best and i'm sure things will work out before they need to [usually at exactly the last moment].

i've been waiting to hear back from my old employer here, usually an automatic re-hire and an easy hire for anybody, and they seem to be in no hurry to put an an interview together. they only do group hires, so i get to cool my heels, eat potatoes/ramen and work on my bows til then. would be great except for the completely out of money issue.

It just goes to show you the SHTF isn't necessarily a "Red Dawn" scenario.

For me it was waking up on that first Monday morning after, and realizing that I had no place to go for the first time since I was 11 years old, 40 years.

Then is was back to work (of sorts), resumes, interviews, govment programs (this can be a career all by itself), schools, networking, learning new stuff, making new friends (and realizing that a lot of "friends" were only "friends" when you worked with them).

Also doing all the "when I get a round to-it's", and "One of these days" as I now have time to do it.
Rummage sales, cleaning out "stuff", getting quotes on phone, insurances, services, working harder in the garden.......Sheesh, when did I have time to go to work?

We both kinda looked at each other, and said,"well, we were always preparing for times like this, let's see how we do".

Hang in there RC, we'll all pulling for you..............

On a serious side now, hope ya got a little chuckle there. Sorry to hear about you losing your job. But as you said it wasn't exactly your dream career. Hopefully with that door closing another better on will open for you. My wife and I will keep you in our prayers that you find what you want to do.

Thank you for the laugh...and the prayers.

Thank you to everyone as a matter of fact. you guys have made me feel so much better. I am doing some real thinking on what I want to do now. I would like something with some physical work... huh... what a concept. I hate not having anything to do. But I wouldn't know what to do. I tried posting on Craigslist for anyone needing help with animal care, fence mending or building, or just anything I can do and some MORON flagged it.

O, and about the trucker comment...I ment some incredible truckers there, I really did, and I actually enjoyed talking and listening to some of them. But typically everyone was hot, tired and grumpy. O O O. I got a story...

I was having a horrible day, people were grumpy and really being stupid. Then I had one guy come in and he was mad bc the table he wanted was wet due to the fact that I cleaned it off JUST for him. So he moved to the next table...it was dirty too. So I told him that I had to wipe that one too and he snapped at me. Then as he apologized he says " I am sorry, I have had a long day" so I exclaimed, tell me about it..." so he sarcastically replies "O. Do you drive an 18 wheeler dealing with people in city traffic?" I calmly explained to him that althought I did not drive a big truck in city traffic, I did have to deal with people that have to nit pick at EVERYTHING! So I turned and left it at that, since it was not my table, the other girl said she had no prblems with him at all. I got a good kick out of myself!

Anyhow...off to figure out the unemployement app.
