We did a 3 day weekend deal for the Jamboree in Indiana... Fri., Sat., Sun., It doesn't have to be anything fancy we could look for a place somewhere in the middle if that's cool. So far it looks like it's just us, but that is subject to change real quick if others start joining in! But we could always do it with just the 2 families as well. Have you looked through the Jamboree pics? We had a REALLY good time. That's what got me on this whole idea to try and get others motivated!!

Buy property shortly, gonna be moving.
Entire life minus clothing, computer and car in storage (staying with friends at their place, we've sorta taken over). I'm fairly certain anything that we would bring to this is buried at the very back of the storage unit under the heaviest piece(s) of furniture.
Work in collections, probably won't be free to do much til tax time when delinquency takes a nose dive for about two months.

I don't know alot about dale hollow,as far as what they would have to meet our needs,I think it's gonna b one of those things to wait and see how spead out folks are that are planning to come,then pick a central location.

Sorry Rick I believe in Democracy - TOTAL democracy... Let them decide. Did you ever play a sport any sport, and have someone on your Team that didn't want to be on your team. It just doesn't work. I still say anyone can go anywhere they want. Especially if there's something going on somewhere else and they do not coincide. If you can make region A but not region X and you live in region x then go to region A by all means if you can do so.

This is Equus Poco's other half. I work what you call a swing shift. I switch shifts every 6 weeks from nights to days and also the days of the week like starting tomorrow i work every other sunday and thurs. fri. sat. days and when i go back to nights i work mon, tues, and wed. nights. i will not shift again until Oct. 18. I told Mel that I might be able to go the last weekend of Oct. Not to warm and not to cold either. I do not know if that works for anyone else but that is pretty feasible for me. The dates are Oct. 30- Nov. 1
This is Halloween weekend but I don't take my kids trick or treating so this is still feasible for me and poco but if anyone else has a suggestion of dates let us know. i know that we would like to do something before old man winter gets here and makes it too cold to do something outside really.

LO I think the only reason for the "groupings" or Regions is for convenience of planning. It kinda' makes it easier to pick a centralized location based on who shows interest and is "conveniently located". Anyone and everyone is free to go or not go to ANY of these Camporees.(I still think we should reserve the title "Jamboree" for an annual Event.Possibly in rotation to each Region.)

I would also offer up Ferne Cliff State Park in Southern Illinois. It's due south of Goreville, Illinois a couple of miles in the Shawnee National Forest. It has a bit of everything. High cliffs, a lake, playground equipment for the kids, hiking trails, a creek, and a really nice waterfall. Primitive camping is available and in Illinois that includes showers.

Just another suggestion that's quasi centrally located.

Poco I'll be happy to do so I've been to patoka lake it's been a while but it's a really nice area. They used to rent rowboats and canoes there as well if someone wants one. I'll contact them next day off (wensday) and see about any available info. Any idea how many "packets" I need to request?

We could always do these, there is no set time. Fall, spring, summer, winter.1, 2, 3, 4 each season even. Just whenever and wherever. It might not be a bad idea to plan 2 or 3 at a time. Late Fall, Early Spring, Late Spring, etc. Maybe save the Jamboree for the Summer / Fall time frame, I don't know.

hey guys poco and i might not be able to make it to the meet after all. our truck is acting up real bad. the cellinoid is bad and it is going to cost a chunk of change to get it fixed. the cellinoid and the starter are together so that i have to replace the whole unit. we will try to get there if we can get the truck fixed scared to take a long road trip in it. we will see. don't know much about fixing a vehicle so have to take it to a mechanic. that costs money a $190.00 part plus labor. something else people can also double up on campsites like we did in indiana for the jamboree. if we want to. save money and all that way.

At garden of the gods in illinois there is a campground called pharaoh campground, they have 12 sites if we could get 12 familys or so we could rent the whole place. It is $10 a night.

Had to deal with Police detectives and Insurance company today. Let's just say I am going back up next Saturday to try again took about 30 pics and none of them turned out. May have a bad data card?? Talked to a ranger about information. Hey! Well....okay. I guess you can use Cool Beans since you're from Kentucky. You get any farther south than Kentucky and they have to use something else. Crash uses Cool Beaches. Tennessee and Georgia can use Cool Water...if they had any.

If the truck runs while jumper cables are connected but dies as soon as you disconnect the cables? If so it may be something as simple as a bad battery. If not and it dies just as soon as you start it regardless of having cables connected or not, It could be a fuel problem bad/clogged filter or a bad fuel pump. With the new computerized vehicles it's hard to tell without computer diagnostics.

went back to patoka lake today got lots of good pics but I can't seem to get them to upload for post.It may be because I'm tired. Will try again tommorow. I have also picked up a bunch of info to make 10-12 packets. If anyone wants me to put one together for them PM me your address and I'll send you one.

Some basic info. Park admission is $4.00 mon-thurs.
$5.00 F,S,S.
Campsite cost
Primative sites $8.00 a night per site
Full ammeneties $ 24.00-$34.00 per site depending on day. Primative has pit toilets, water faucets scattered around camp ground.
NO SHOWERS, NO ELECTRIC, just a spot for tent(s) a fire ring and picnic table. Each site is allowed 2 tents.

When I get pics posted you can see MOST of the primative sites are out in the open. Very few of the sites are shaded and are close together! It is a beautiful park with lots of things to do. BUT as I said the camping area leaves a lot to be desired.

Crash said he would see if he can link the photobucket pics so everyone can make up their minds. But IMO if I knew I could camp I would want a little shede or some cover, as I said there are a few sites with cover kinda like we had at jamboree. If you could get so of them it would be okay. They also have an archery range and boat rentals from row boats up to luxury houseboats. I guess wherever you go would have about the same kind of sites. I know Lincoln does as well as harmony state park.

Yeah or areas.Hoosier national in Indiana has an area (hemlock cliffs) is a favorite of mine free to camp but VERY primative NO toilets NO water what you bring is what you have. Also Shawnee national forest in Illinois is nice. They have several low cost areas to camp. Some of the Ky. state parks like Audabon, Pennyrile, and Ben Hawes are good spots, with reasonable rates.

IMO patoka is a very nice park with lots of good things to do. If one were using a camper it would be a okay place to camp. But camping as we do, I think possibly Audabon state park just south of Evansville in Henderson Ky. would be better. That or as I said Hoosier national park about 60 miles East of here off I-64 toward Louisville. A REALLY GOOD area is one of the "new' areas at Lincoln state park near Dale Indiana. My wife said it has lots of good spots. ( She camped there before we met) Shady not real expensive and plenty to do.BUT as I said outside of Audabon I most likely will not get to camp this fall due to work. BUT will try to make at least 1 "daytrip" If I can. Anyone have and suggestions or comments?? If the group wants Patoka It's okay with me and I'll happily put together and send info packets. If you want audabon I'll run down there this week and pick up info. Lincoln would have to be a Saturday trip. Hoosier is kinda far about 80 miles 1 way.

No really "primative" sites all are about the same but room off the concrete for a tent or two. There is also a place east of here called scales lake. It's not a bad place either.

Actually scales lake is just east of boonville In. check it out at www.scaleslakepark.com They have some very nice spots I've camped there before. Good fishing, boat rental, pavillion, lots of stuff. As I said just some area ideas. Majority rules on location.

well, i will throw in some meeting ideas.

red river gorge in mid eastern ky 1 hr outside lexington: http://www.redrivergorge.com/ awesome place. pleanty of hiking, some canoeing/fishing on the red river, camping is dirt cheap (a 3 day pass used to be $5) and i know of some areas that have multiple primitive spots that could take a group.

then there is the old boy scout camp in harlan county if the group wanted something like this (southeast ky). there is a pond, fishing, canoes, some hiking (knobby rock and sand cave). camping would be an indoor thing...staying in the bunk houses. there are fireplaces and lots of bunk beds. there is also a very nice bath house with heated floors and vaulted ceilings. this whole place can now be rented out at a group rate or the old $10 per night per person can apply. http://www.campblantontrust.com/front.html

there is also the cumberland gap national park in extreme southeast ky: http://www.nps.gov/cuga/index.htm
tons of hiking, there are some nice campgrounds, skylight cave, sand cave, hensleys settlement, the devils garden watershed, the martins fork watershed (one of ky's dedicated wild river areas) and all sorts of good stuff. i really think everyone would enjoy this place with a proper guide ;)

While we were on our camping trip, I ran into some state Park workers that go from park to park statewide. I asked them what their suggestion would be considering our wants/needs as I was able to explain them. They told me that they though Daniel Boone would probably be the best of all the parks in Kentucky. However it looks like if it is not VERY soon(next couple of weeks) then it will be spring before we can plan this. The campgrounds close the 3rd week in October.

Just to be sure that everyone knows. If you are a member of this forum,and can communicate freely among members here, You are welcome at any Gathering amongst the membership regions. It doesn't matter if someone in India, wants to attend our function they are free to do so. ANY member of this Forum is welcome at ANY of the gatherings. I think we did the "Regions" for two reasons basically. A "central location" for that region to make it easier to be found for those interested in attending. Some people in other locales felt left out some what. So by making Regions, folks in that area of the country could get the opportunity to plan an event that would be close enough that all could attend that were interested.
Although I am no Spokesperson for this Forum. I think it safe to say these things. Any member is welcome at any event. Please by all means do come. The more the merrier. Honestly I have no idea about the first thing in planning these events, If you do then ... Please help!!!
