After hanging around here awhile, and since I was cleaning/straighting out the truck, thought I would open and check out the Belt BOB.
I always carry it in the truck, use to carry on my belt when hunting.
Most of the hunting stuff (emergency kit) now in fanny pack or pockets.
I always hated moving stuff from one coat/bibs to another, so now most every one of the coats have redundant basics.

Deer (bow/gun/hot/cold)
Duck
Turkey
Up-land

Matches
lighter
fire-flint kit
1 aid
folding knife/sheath knife
mini binocs
compass
25 ft cord
insect repellent
Carmex -lip balm,(either end)/ fire starter
(and what ever that trip requires) Ammo. water snacks walki/talkies

Any way, this kit is belt worn/truck carried and has evolved over 25-30 years. Started just as a plastic 2 piece cigarette box (waterproof) , now is a little bigger.
Fits in Mil. First aid pouch.

From bottom left:
1-Coghlars-Pack II 1st aid kit.
2-sticks gum
1-instant coffee
1-small plastic box (from ear plugs) w/fishing line/hooks/sinkers/corks) also 4 aspirins.
1-small bottle of water purification tabs (sealed with wax)
1-roller paper/wax fire starter
1-candle end
1-box matches
1-small metal match (flint and steel)
1-lighter

1-compass
1-Swiss Army knife
1-led flashlight
1-plastic cig box)
1-p-38 can opener
1-razor blade
1-folded up piece of alum. foil
1-box/50 rds .22 ammo

1-plastic spoon
1-sewing kit (from hotel)

Wait! Whoa! Back the truck up. You keep deer, ducks and turkeys in your bibs? Doesn't that get a little crowded? And I know about those ducks. They will give you a wedgie if they get half a chance......assuming you got drawers on to get wedgied.

Nice, though i'm not too crazy about that compass, but if it works for you. I would upgrade that SAK to a lock bladed version.

Nice use of the 1st aid pouch, I have one of those and had never thought of using it for anything but a 1st aid kit.

LOL, Yup, it's a trick, but does keep you warm.

Point is that this a General Purpose bag, each set of hunting gear has its own set of carry along gear, that STAY in them.
This includes
fire kit (water proof matches/flint and steel/Bic type lighter)
Knife
cord.
Mini binoc's
Mini mag light
First aid kit (mostly ban-aides, wipes, aspirin)
Thermos
Water bottle
And what ever ammo/ or additional gear the trip requires.

Each has to decide what is a necessary addition for them, this works for me.
I do get kidded about the stuff I carry, but I'm always the one that gets asked, "Hey do have a ..........."
And believe me there are those that show up for a trip, with just the bare minimum gear.
And then there are the ones that show up with their .45 auto, M-1, and ak-47, 100 rolls of T.P.

Nice, though i'm not too crazy about that compass, but if it works for you. I would upgrade that SAK to a lock bladed version.

I agree about the compass, only useful if you know how to use one, and have an idea where you are, and where your going.
Most folks don't or use a GPS, but the compass 'es batteries won't run out.

Feel free to upgrade any thing you want, as it will be yours.

As you can see this one has been around for quite a while, even has coins for a (OMG), Pay phone, LOL. (they still have them?)

It is a fine kit, hunter. What makes it even better is you know what the items are for and how to use them. Now, about those compass batteries.

Speaking about the compass it brings up a point that has worried me about keeping it in a BOB,belt kit or anywhere you have that much steel/iron. Doesn't this affect the magnetism of the needle and it's accuracy?

Not real sure, it is strong, mostly used for hauling a gun or bow into a tree stand.
Also has been used to drag deer (dead, thought I would clarify), and lash togeather various stuff.
A lot of people seem to like pari-cord, but since I have this I have been using it.

This kit is a just the first step beyond what you carry in your pockets, and I consider it a bare minium, so I consider it a BOB, it is one of many stages.

I don't like making a BIG bag, that is a pain to carry, so you don't carry it.

Yes, that white cord is "Mule Tape". It comes in two tensile strengths, the strongest is shown here, rated at 1800 pounds as Mischief noted.
( I am not sure about the lesser version.)

Mule Tape is used by anyone pulling cables. (Electrical and TV, etc.)

They often discard large portions if it happens to break. If you see this, STOP AND PICK IT UP!

This is a treasure! It is stronger than paracord (550#) and it stores better because it is FLAT.

The ONLY shortfall of "free" Mule Tape is that knots are difficult to untie: Learn to use the slipknot.

This is by far the strongest, lightest, smallest line I have come by.

Nice use of the 1st aid pouch, I have one of those and had never thought of using it for anything but a 1st aid kit.
I use another pouch for a field gun cleaning kit, holds small bottle of solvent, and a small bottle of ammonia (good way to start cleaning barrels of corrosive powdered ammo), take down cleaning rod, jags, patches etc.

Usually carry this in what ever rifle/pistol case I happen to be using.

My first survival pack was created from being out hunting. Getting turned around after dark coming out one night made a believer out of me. Nothing for long term but enough comforts to see me thru an unplanned overnighter. Now with cell phones and GPS's its harder to get in a prediciment but not impossible. I find a pair of pruners and a small limb saw to come in handy as well as a pouch full of Bright eye glowing thumb tacks. A map and compass for backup of course.
