I have mulled this over for many weeks. There are tons of forums and web sites devoted to Pink Fluffy Bunnies and I can't figure out if folks have so much spare time on their hands that they actually build sites dedicated to them or if they actually believe (tell me it ain't so) that Zombies exist, may exist, may some day exist, whatever.

I consider myself a reasonably intelligent guy (NOT open for debate, thank you) but for the life of me I can't figure out if folks really believe in them or not.

What's the story?

ok; yes, i am, but i still truly believe in the eventual zombie apocalypse.

a lot of people are just along for the ride for kicks, to impress the ladies, etc. but i am known to make practice runs through the zombie emergency plan with a girlfriend or family members just to be sure they know what to do. it's just like any other emergency preparedness/response plan, but i take it seriously.

O.K. I am NOT a believer in Zombie Humans........Zombie Banks-Yes, Zombie Governments- Yes. So in full disclosure I must admit I don't know what a Zombie Human is in theory. So Canid, world you recommend one website I could learn from, Or would you be willing to explain the theory. A Zombie Bank is a Bank that is bankrupt, and does not loan money, it just pretends to be a Bank, It is an empty useless shell. So what is a Zombie Human......???? Remember I have no T.V. and don't do movies. I thought the Zombie thing was just like the Mummy, Frankenstein, and other horror show thingies. So what is Zombies.

A Zombie Bank is a Bank that is bankrupt, and does not loan money, it just pretends to be a Bank, It is an empty useless shell. So what is a Zombie Human......???? Going by this definition, I would venture to say that a Zombie Human must be one that is morally bankrupt, only pretends to be human, and is an empty useless shell.....my husband's exwife, for example.

OK as it applies in the cult religions of the Carribean, Zombies exsist. People drugged into nearly brain dead slaves. Other than that they be fiction but there are possible scientific ways they could occur similar to "I am Legend" and "28 Days Later" but "Dawn of The Dead" not at all.

Zombie games, forums, merchandise....they may not be able to get a date, but they have money. As to those that buy all that mercandise and participate in the zombie arena of ideas - yeah - work on that date thing.

I think the story is mainly that the concept of a zombie apocalypse is simply an extension of the insanity that can occur when mobs get out of hand, and society breaks down.

Except of course that zombies are worse.

Pink fluffy Bunny, It started with Chris, The "KING" and Owner threatened to: use computer Mo Jo-Manjimup programing so that anytime someone typed the word "Zombie" the words "Fluffy Pink Bunny" would appear in it's place. I think it was in the thread where Chris first proposed a Firearms sub-section. Now in your Professional Opinion how do I stop a Zombie, and are they safe to feed my Grizzly Bears....?????

In my professional opinion, you stop a zombie by destroying the brain. Zombies are animated by a parasitic virus called Solanum, which takes over the brain of the subject in question. If the brain is damaged, the Solanum virus cannot animate the body. The Solanum virus perpetuates itself by getting the body to attack living creatures and spread the virus through bodily fluid contact. In order to keep the body animated, the virus compels it to take in nourishment by eating flesh. But not the brain, as that is where the virus resides in the new host, and the control center from which it controls the host. I confess I don't know whether or not grizzlies can become infected by Solanum, but if I were you, I would err on the side of caution and not feed zombies to grizzly bears. I imagine a zombie grizzly bear would be really terrifying, and possibly tricky to get through that tough braincase.

Oh my gosh! If you were infected with a similar virus such as lycopersicon or tuberosum would that net the same affect? I've always tried to protect myself from melongena but maybe there is more that I need to worry about!?

Personally I don't believe in zombies though I do own the zombie survival guide by Mark X. Brooks. I am a huge fan of the zombie apocalypse scenario because it is all abot tactics and preparednes in an urban situation. I do think that someday society will crumble and we will be faced with survival situations everyday so who knows what we need to be prepared for... zombies... more likely our fellow men and women attacking us but to me it's all planning for a similiar situation.

Depends on how you get your media...There are numpty's that spend money on this stuff...But those of us that know about digital survival know that bit-torrent or a usenet subscription is as vital to this environment as a knife is to being in the bush. I mean, without it you could get caught in a flashflood of $5 movies from the rental store.... holy crap that would be a nightmare.

Lots of ammo, explosives, and automated motion sensitive mini-guns. Oh, and oregano. You need lots and lots of oregano for the really BIG booms.

With that setup I can hold them off all day by myself.

1. It's illegal to share movies and the recording industry (RIAA) CAN come down on you like a ton of bricks. You can mitigate that by not sharing what you download and remove it from the torrent location immideately after download.

2. It's a great way to get your computer 'zombied' really quickly. If you do not have good antivirus software, a host-based firewall, spyware protection, and good sense. it's not a question of if, but when.

Anyway, he's %110 right, but I tend to forget that there are people out there who aren't savvy about this kind of stuff. Although, you can always run a real OS that has inherent firewall capabilities and no real "virus" to speak of. :) But I wouldn't suggest taking the plunge unless you're already aware of what linux is or relish spending all the time you used to spend outdoors inside under flourescent lights geeking over whether there's a span session attached to your spoofed MAC address or not.

yup yup... I have actually touched linux boxes and Macs(Apple computers) That were just as owned as any old PC running windows... And with the new Ibot net out there, macs are not safe either.

I think it's safe to say that the world is not a safe place to be, even the intarwebs...

Some of the most impressive rootkits I've ever seen were on Linux. And you are correct. The more the "Mac Revolution" gains followers the more virii and trojans, rootkits, etc. will be written for it's "bulletproof" bsd backend. The only reason windows has such a large collection of social diseases is because of it's large end user base. One guy writes one, tells someone else how to do it, they make a tool so anyone can do it, etc. Most of the linux boxes are network servers and the admins are shot in the foot by web coders not paying attention to the permissions requirements, xss, or unsanitized database
inputs.

No matter what, you are only as strong as your weakest link.

How did we go from zombies to zombied botnets? :oops:

In theory you could. There are lots of variables. I don't think 5 people can mass against billions of zombie hoards regardless of explosives. Though I like the aregano idea. You could at least make delicious spaghettie before you become the main dish :tongue_smilie:
