I received an email from a friend of mine the other day. Here is what it said:


CAUTION...BE AWARE

"There are people going around asking you to make a cell phone call for them. When you agree, they offer a dollar or two for your kind deed. Unbeknown to the do-gooder, the bill(s) are laced with a very powerful psycho-tropic or paralysis inducing drug, which is quickly absorbed into your skin when you touch the money and renders you incapacitated. The perpetrator(s) of this scheme then rob or assault their victims. They (the perpetrator) cover their hands with the brush on rubber glove substance or new skin to protect themselves from the drugs absorbing into their bodies."

The same day I received this particular email, I was at a restaurant and had a person approach me and ask if I would make a phone call for them. I made the call and the guy left a one dollar bill on my table.

While I was dialing the call for him I took his picture with my phone. Immediately after he left I asked the waitress for a plastic zip-lock bag. When she brought it, I picked the bill up with a napkin and put in the bag.

I gave a copy of the email and the bill to my cousin who is a deputy Sheriff. I explained the details of what happened and had him check it for any unusual substances. Luckily and thankfully he found none.

I took the picture just in case here was something on the bill. Then they would have an identification and lead on the guy.

So, BEWARE, there are many, many sick people in this world who have nothing better to do than try and hurt others.

I just can't believe this is true. I checked it on some sites and could not find anything about toxin laced dollar bills, but I just can't buy it. It seems to me like an internet hoax, but I don't know for sure. Just be kind-hearted when lending your cell phone, and do not accept cash!

Forgive the pessimistic outlook here. I think it was another drive by. I checked some indices and there is no reference to this.

I'm not saying it's not true, or that it is. I'm just saying that I could find nothing about it on Snopes or any of the myriad of other sites dedicated to informing about this sort of thing.

Personally, I believe everything I receive in emails including the fact that I am an heir to at least a bazillion dollars some place in Nairobi or Kenya and/or some other country.

If that were REALLY happening don't you think you'd hear about on the news? Come on.

It always pays to be aware. But, I have never heard of any sort of drug that can be absorbed through the skin so quickly as to render you incapacitated within a short period of time. Maybe if it was exposed directly to a mucous membrane such as you pick up the bill, get the stuff on your fingers and then put your fingers in your mouth. There are many drugs that I use at work on a daily basis that are absorbed through the skin, but they all take at least a half an hour to start working.

Actually, this is true...it happened to me!!!

But, the bad guys were after more than just my fat wallet and Rolex. They wanted my spleen and my soul. Turns out the dudes who needed my cell were Inter-Galactic agents for Satan. Yeah...you read that right SATAN! He now has an alien goon squad doing his bidding!

Anyway, After I went limp from the toxins, they took me to their space ship, and probed me. Even though I was heavily drugged when the cold steel of their probe touched me, I jolted up straight in to my Mui-Tai stance and went for them full-on ballisitic bad-arse style. After a few Judo tosses and some karate chops, I put them both in submission holds (I am a mixed martial artist) and made them say "uncle".

I then took back my spleen (they never got my soul), and destroyed their super computer with it (I have tough innerds) then set the whole place on fire. I dove out of the space ship, landed in a lake- Then looked up to see the ship explode.

I write this from the hospital were I had my badly bruised spleen reinserted. I can attest, this threat was real. But, I destroyed those jack-arsses and don't think they'll be bothering us anymore with that trick.

Be alert though. Satan, will be back with another scam. So, watch yourself!

Jason! You ROCK! (dude) Like, totally. I had a guy ask me to make a cell phone call for him because he was wearing a gas mask and hazmat suit and he couldn't dial because of the gloves. I just screamed like a little girl and ran away, but you, you ROCK!

There is a substance that, if contacted by skin, can be absorbed through the skin, and will kill you in seconds. I am not going to name it because not everyone should know everything. Do not email and ask either, I will not name it. I do not think this has happened, but realistically, it could.

I tend to think that way sometimes too, Sarky, and then I get to thinking, "what about when someone else decides I'm one of the scumbags?"

Unfortunately scumbags are getting very difficult to identify. In the past they may have looked the part or acted differently. Now they look like the average person or a politician or lawyer. Identity is impossible. I was at the range this morning and two scumbagish kids approached me and I felt like there was going to be trouble, EXCEPT they wanted to know if I could tell them how to handle the new weapons they had just took out of the box. Colt 45 acp and a Mini-14. I was delighted and contributed two pair of shooting glasses and earplugs to there day.
From worry to relief to delight in less than 15 minutes. Their parents raised them with manners and respect also.

I am not sure, but according to the brochure, a lot of the training does take place on the couch. Anyways, it sure is fun being a lert.

I tried being a fraid, a bort, a bove and a bout all without much luck. When I was a fraid I had to run and hide. Running is out so scratch that. When I was a bort I at least got to fail and abondon the mission, which is right up my alley. Sadly, you also have to end prematurely. Not what I call a good time. When I was a bove the whole format dealt with heights so I quit that, too. Being a bout wasn't so bad except approximating. That mental stuff wears me out. We'll see what being a lert does.
