View Full Version : Thinking of buying a used Elise in Dubai – how bad is the repair situation?

I've been obsessing over getting a second-hand Lotus Elise for weekend drives out to Jebel Hafeet, but everyone I talk to keeps warning me about parts availability and finding a garage that actually knows these cars. I get it – it's not like a Toyota where you can just pop into any workshop in Al Quoz. Been doing some late-night research and stumbled across 800sayara.com/lotus-repair-dubai which seems to list a few specialists, though I'm not sure how up to date their info is. Has anyone here actually owned a Lotus in the UAE long term? I'm trying to figure out if the horror stories about waiting months for suspension bushes or clutch parts are real, or if it's just people exaggerating because they don't know where to look. The car I'm eyeing is a 2011 Elise with around 70k km on it, looks clean but I'm worried the previous owner might have neglected the little things. Would love to hear from anyone who's been through the ownership experience here – what broke unexpectedly, where did you get it fixed, and roughly what did it set you back? I don't mind paying a bit more for proper care, but I also don't want a money pit that sits in the garage for half the year.
