How many of you have noticed that all of a sudden we have people showing up on this forum asking questions that, by there very posted experience, they should already know the answers to?:confused: Next thing you know we get questions regarding our choice of firearms, ammo, knives, socks, etc.! If you don't think it's that big of a deal or don't care who knows all about you then post away; but I think I'll "err on the side of caution.":cool:

In my limited experience here, I have seen some pretty basic questions. I was just chalking it up to their curiosity. Maybe, maybe not. But I did learn long ago, that until you can put someone in the "friends list", you always hold somethings back :)

I think Sargent Clue'less is just a poor actor. That said, we have had some verbal exchanges that were way out there if taken out of context, or maybe even in context. ( The thing with Spud.....when you start talking compounds, shooting ports, bunkers, .50 Caliber snipper rifles, shooting lanes, fire bombs from air crafts).

Having just found this forum today I've already learned quite a bit. I've found links to helpful sites I couldn't find on my own. I'm still taking in all the knowledge and experience and as I said in my intro I will probably ask dumb questions. The questions asked might be from an honest to goodness newbie that has no idea about selecting a gun or knife. Guns and knives are a personal choice but if somebody doesn't know the difference between a clip point and a drop point knife an experienced opinion is helpful. If you feel the answer to a question to be to encriminating then don't answer. When I took up photography 40 years back I burdened my uncle with extremely stupid questions, now I'm the one answering the photography questions.

Hello everyone! I'm a 35-year-old supervisor in a small town police department. When it comes to survival, I'm still largely a novice, but the subject has always interested me, and I'm hoping to learn a lot here. I love camping, hiking, shooting, knives, and the TV shows "Lost" and "Survivorman."

Do LEOs bother you? In my experience, most of us are very sympathetic to you guys. I am a very strong supporter of the 2nd amendment, I believe the person best able to protect you, is you. Most of the time law enforcement will only get there in time to clean up the mess.

I laid out three reasons why in my original post, reasons I got from a buddy of mine (the same one who received delivery of my Rossi lever-action for me) who enjoys reloading. I was curious if there were more reasons than those. I like the concept of reloading and was thinking of trying it out myself, but I don't think I can afford the equipment to start out right now.

I think people are being a bit paranoid. Wouldn’t people be more concerned about the feds finding out info rather then a local Police Sergeant? And if any law enforcement, feds, local, or whatever does want to try to gather info on you why would they make a profile that shows they are in the law enforcement? That would be like a cop wearing his Police uniform when he goes undercover, not very logical, and he probably wouldn’t find out too much info. I think he is on the up and up, nothing to worry about.

Actually,I think a cop "posing as a cop" on the forum for the purpose of gleaning information into potential illegal storing of weapons and such wouldn't be so far fetched at all,I mean we have several LEO on the forum and did so when spud showed up crowing about what all he stored in his compound,if what he bragged about was illegal,then any one of those LEO could have informed another bureau and that compound could have been raided in short order I am sure. I am not saying that spud professed to any wrong doing here,it was just an example.

A lot are saying it is because of the United States failing economy and raising crime plus increase in terrorism worldwide. I think people who don't have the basic skills to survive without their fine things are now getting scared.

Did I mention in my intro that I am a police handgun, rifle and shotgun instructor. Also have a state cert for full auto instruction???????Nope didnt think so, sorry.....................

Now my handle here is A190 which was my call sign when I was LT with the SWAT...........kinda figured it would bother some as much as Cruiser 1.

Other law dawgs here will know what Crusier 1 is for.................rest of you can guess.

Now I know from other survival sites that cops just arent welcome at some of them...................Heck even the religious survival site with squirrels, I get the feeling they are just tolerated kinda like the ole odd uncle..........But I never got that sense from this site................thats why I signed on.

It's not so much you or any of the other law enforcement guys here. Many of us here have had our ticket punched with either the military, law enforcement, SAR, etc. The problem is an intrusive govt. that has been getting more intrusive everyday. Do I want the bad guys to have a free ride??? NO! But when the masses are punished for the crimes of a few and it's you guys they send in..... the masses aren't thinking about the A**Holes that created the laws that caused the problem, they are thinking about the people who are in their faces. If I had I don't know...a Thompson (why did i pick that gun...because i'm a WWII buff) sub gun and never did a bad thing with it except own it, why is that so horrible? If you think cops are unappreciated. There are few more loathed vocations than professional animal killers. Either Professional Hunters or Professional Trappers.

My biggest problem with cops is the nearest one is 38 miles away. And If I call him he is so over loaded it is three to five days be for he comes. I tried to get a State Trooper post in our area, I tried to get a trooper to live here and commute the 38 miles to the post. No Joy.

If the United States Government could "not" compile at least a 30 page report on me with in 30 seconds; I would wonder why "NOT".......

I just applied for Social Security, via telephone; it took just shy of one and a half hours of questions. That is a lot of information. Add in passport information, CCW permit information, State and Federal Securities License, Drivers License, Alaska PFD application information, Three corporations that file reports. Credit Reports, Court Records, Commercial Pilot License, and yearly Medical Pilot Examination reports, Alaska Registered Big Game Hunting Guide License reports, and applications, and special use permits applications.

Actually,I think a cop "posing as a cop" on the forum for the purpose of gleaning information into potential illegal storing of weapons and such wouldn't be so far fetched at all,I mean we have several LEO on the forum and did so when spud showed up crowing about what all he stored in his compound,if what he bragged about was illegal,then any one of those LEO could have informed another bureau and that compound could have been raided in short order I am sure. I am not saying that spud professed to any wrong doing here,it was just an example.

Actually we are pretty comfortable with LEO's on the forum,we have so many and they freely tell us they are,I have never thought that they could be here for something other than being a member of the forum.

1st, just let me say that you guys are my heroes. A bit over 20 years ago my wife's sister was leaving her husband. He killed her in a very horrible manner & the Sherriff's dept had him in custody within 12 hours.

2nd, I always look at it like this, if the doo-doo ever does hit the fan then guys like you, Draino, Beu, & some of the others on here are gonna be desperately needed in rebuilding any kind of a community. Law enforcement is a nessesity! You are most welcomed here!:):cool:

If you visit people living in the bush, it is polite to call and ask, if they need anything from town. There are expected to reimburse you for the cost.

If they have no radiophone, or CB', or any way to make contact; then it is polite to just bring lettuce, carrots, tomato's. The stuff they would die to taste, as they ran out of fresh produce months ago. They will love you forever, and you will always be welcome.

I grew up in an inner city wilderness and that is where I am at my best survival mode.

A post a while back about the deep snow in the north west and the below freezing weather, I would have been one of those bodies found in the spring thaw and that I know.

Stick me in the woods of SE Oklahoma with our typical snow fall here I will do just fine as I have.

You guys up in Montana, Idaho Oregon and on the east coast in Penn and Virginia,, hey, you gotta remember that here in Oklahoma we only have hills. That in SE oklahoma we have only one almost mountain and it is several feet short of that distinction (Cavanaugh Hill)

Here in Oklahoma what we call rivers most of you guys would call a stream or creek.

Heck most of our rivers at normal stage you can walk across and not get your knees wet.

In Central Oklahoma the North Canadian river must be mowed three times a year.

Each of us have our own unique situations and not one size fits all as regards survival and wilderness living.

Hey, I guess maybe we all get kinda prickly over noting some times.................
