Unfortunately you seem to get idiots everywhere.

We live in a reasonably mountainous area of Australia and our SES (State Emergency Services) are out regularly rescuing people who go out less than prepared. They are all volunteers and risk there own lives and livelihoods when they go out, and rarely complain.

Hats off to them.

I think he just wanted to see if his gps worked and got a free ride .Try that in wisconsin and you would get free room and bored at the nears jail and pay the bill or sit there.

In Canada at least in our National Parks rescuers have the option of charging people for the rescue is it is either unneeded or do to some type of incompetency, etc. I have never heard of a case where they have done it yet.
