I have been visiting these type of survival sites for years now...
I lost a link to one...
I was trying to remember the web site "outdoors" something...
In particular I'm trying to find an artical written by someone in the Northwest regarding using a Filson cruser vest for his EDC and carrying survival items... it was a very detailed write-up which included great pictures and gear lists.
He was basicly prepaired for Mt. Rainier to explode like Mt. St. Helens, he lived and worked in the down slope and expected "lahar" evacuation would be required.

Does anyone remember this article or Web site?
I'm working on a vest similar to the Filson one he had...

Introductions are just a polite etiquette thing. I mean after all, wasn't it you that said


People asking about you is somewhat necessary to see if you are headed in the same direction than they are. To hear your heart beat, to count how many steps you take between two points. What should remain private, does, for those questions are not to violate your privacy, but to understand your ways...

So should introductions go in the introduction section. Some would say yes, while others would say no. I guess the same quandry could apply to going to the bathroom. Some would say use the bathroom, while others........well, you know.....just a polite etiquette thing.

If that doesn't work, then hello - hello.

Remy - I disagree. The anonymity of the internet is not unlike the "pen pal" of years gone by. The anonymity was still there and people chose to ask and answer what they were comfortable with. Some sent pictures, others did not. If an introduction did not occur, there was probably very little basis to try and establish any kind of relationship at all anonymous or not.

Again, I must disagree. Individuals come to this site for as many reasons as there are members. Some remain individuals, while others cultivate relationships. Some of the relationships may last, some may not. Some of the relationships are based in a common interest, while others are based on harsh disagreements....they are relationships none the less. Next weekend I am meeting several members of this site (possibly up to 6). This probably would not have taken place without an introduction and exchange of some sort. Now as far as answering questions without an introduction - anybody should feel free to do that if they please, just as others should feel free to wait for an introduction if they please. As to the relevance of the information in an introduction - maybe it's relevant - maybe it's not, but it is the foundation that a relationship begins on. If that foundation is weak it may not last as it slowly crumbles away. If it is a strong foundation it may develope into a lifetime of learning and friendship. We may never know unless we seek to cultivate those relationships.

I'll head right over to the intro thread... I doubt it will help you remember the question or the site I asked about... but OK I'll play.

Normally if I see a post were I know something helpful I respond with just that... I share what I know. If I don't know, I don't reply... I certainly don't grind them... As I don't frequent this site to understand the personal relationships, and at this point question that I will, based on the collective that reacted.

This is clearly not the site to ask a random question to test the waters...
