Hotel Hallway Bibles

I spend time in hotels and I see different things.

A recent observation is the number of Bibles in the hotel hallways in the morning.

It's my understanding that Muslim believers throw the Bible out of their hotel room when they get to their room. I know it's their choice but, how would it be for me to be disrespectful of the Koran.

I know, not tolerated!

Both the Koran and the Bible are just books. I'll throw anything I want out to of my hotel room - a book, a beer bottle, Jesus Christ, Allah, or Catherine Zeta Jones. If you don't like it, too bad for you.

Religious books are not

Most bibles in hotel rooms are placed there by the Gideon's International. Their goal is to give a copy of the bible to anyone who wants one in their own language free of charge. They give them out to hospitals, the military, etc. Hotel chains allow them to place bibles in the rooms. You are allowed to take it home with you if you want to. If some other organization wants to approach a hotel chain and offer free copies of their literature (Koran, Kochanski's "Bushcraft" etc.) they can accept or reject them on the same basis.

If you want to put the bible, or the pillows, or the ice bucket, in the hallway of your hotel, that is entirely up to you. Mac

Last month I stayed at my first hotel that DIDN'T have a bible.

As for me, I adhere to a minimum level of respect for others. So I would not throw a bible, koran, or any other holy book on the floor. It's called "being civilized" and "respect for others". Duh.

What I meant was, part of being civilized, or spiritually advanced, means respecting others even though they are different. Being civilized has nothing to do with knowing which fork or spoon to use. Or wearing the "right" clothes. Or driving the "right" car.
