Mostly makes me sad more than angry, I mean...wtf? I read posts like what GW did for his kids and some of the others on here too, with the family outdoor excursions etc, and I know that proper parents still exist, but something went waaay wrong with these guys upbringing for them to pull sh*t like that, what punishment is appropriate or what's going to make them change their ways? I don't have the answer to that, but I could think up some nasty-a$$ed stuff, just don't know that it would help.

Not much works anymore. We do scared straight tours at the jail I work at, and most of the kids wind up back with in 6 months. Soceity is starting to spiral around the bowl. :eek: Oh crap, I sound like Bragg!!! :eek:

At a lake here I think it was last summer a bunch of nitwit teenagers in their dad's speedboat ran over a family of swans, mom and a couple babies... the thing is. They missed on the first pass, turned around, and tried again. IE, it was no accident. Lots of witnesses.

Bastards got caught eventually, but I thought they should have gotten a stiffer penalty, I think the boat should have been impounded for one. They had a few grand fine I think and a couple years of probation.

I think each of these kids face a fine of $500 for the first offence,and $1000 for each additional,still not enough for what they did,sadly around here,they probably will only get probation or community service.

Unfortunatly, its not just kids. I know of stories of men doing the same damned thing. people are caught doing crap like this all the time around the country. A couple of years ago I remember some guys being arrested in MT for shooting cows just for the hell of it. This kind of thing is bad for all hunters and gun owners. This scares me and not much does....Rick when you brought up the Buffalo , that made me stop and think of all that went along with the killing of the Buffalo .. Our kids have lost the respect for LIFE.. In the last Big Depression people lived on farms , now we live in sub. and city's . On the farm you could grow your own food . Now what can you do ? Then add into this mix the lack of moral responsible from the young , and it's not just the boys here [and 17 years old is not young] what we have is a very bad out look.... All we need is a Hitler and the Camps will be open for business again ......The stage is sat ...were do I run ?

well smoke now your talking sematics, most small farms thrived back then because of community support now the big farms get goverment subsides not supposed to if they make over a certain amount(it escapes me right now)but around the 2.5 million dollar mark, i heard of a farmer that is worth half a billion dollars has several luxury homes and a jet and still gets government help because he has good accountants, what does that tell me, we have gotten greedy we take advantage when we can and for the poor folks well both mom and dad have to work long hours to make it happens leaving johhny and freinds to watch saw 4 and play grand theft auto cruise you tube and think its cool to do this crap, whats the answer, i don't know but if it was at all possible to try and get back to our roots that would be great maybe walmat or stores like that need subsides to lower prices so we don't have to buy the chinese crap and we can afford gas food and lodging w/o sacrificing our families

The numbers are larger because the population is larger but I'd be surprised if the percentage is that much higher. There have always been those folks that operate outside the law. Usually younger males because they are invincible. It used to be illegal booze and today it's drugs. What's the difference? It's still a group trying to make a quick buck by circumventing the law.

I see an awful lot of young folks that are interested in a good earth, raising a family and making their own way in the world. Many on here on this forum. I certainly don't think the majority of young people are bad. Just a small percentage that has always been and will always be.

Unfortunately, hooligans (haven't used that word in awhile) will make the headlines, while those that quietly plod along and do the right thing will not. Sensationalism sells newspapers and drives viewership. Until that changes we will hear about all of the azzhats no matter how small their numbers are.

When I was a kid most of the bad wannabes would up with a choice of jail or the military. Most came back from the military a lot better than they went in and went on to be really good, productive people. Sadly (from that perspective), the military no longer wants them so they wind up in boot camps of a different kind or prison.

That was still going on when I joined the service (1975). Policy changed with all of the drawdowns (not unlike any employer trying to be more selective on a hire). Some of those that I met during my time in that were told by a judge they had 2 options were very professional and great people, while some probably would have been smarter to choose the incarceration option.......not unlike some that I met that were volunteers that received no judicial prodding.
