I went to Costco today. I pass by this middle aged man and his son loading their cart with a bunch of canned goods. The man looks at me and says "... just preparing for the end of the world ha-ha". I tell him. "Smart idea". He is kind of surprised at my reaction. We start talking. I tell him how I have been doing the exact same thing for the last month (really years). His response was to say, that "is comforting, you look normal"

I asked what he did for a living. He said "Hedge Fund Trader".

I almost crapped my pants. He then went on to tell me how doomed we are, and how bad the system is going to fail.

Regardless of how much $ gets pumped into the market it's still going to go belly up. Consummer's credit and equity is maxed out and they can't really afford to borrow any more regardless if the banks do start lending. Wallets are going to remain closed ...and not from choice.

I may not be a genius. But, some people call this "a clue".

Even the FBI would call that a clue.

Everything will be fine, the government is on the problem, no worries.

I gotta add, there are too many greedy people in power to just let the system fail completely. Their greed will keep things going, if barely. That's one thing you can count on.

Perhaps we'll slowly slink back to a cash only economy: you buy something only if you have the cash. Sure it will slow the economy down in the initial few years, but then imagine how solid businesses will be when we go cash-only.

Assuming no one loses their savings in the banks. If the FDIC or NCUA fails to insure accounts like they said, we are in deep poopies.
