Personally, I need a minimum of 10,000 square feet. I like my elbow room, with a family of three anything else is just to cramped.

You could always use it as a week-end retreat, camp, etc.. I don't know why one of the cargo containers or two or three couldn't be buried in a hill side for a berm or underground house. Just join a couple together and you'd have lot's of room.

I don't know Rick, I like to keep my wifes Hummer, and my Excursion garaged...even at a weekend camp. I'm not sure these places would be conducive to our lifestyle

Those cargo containers (conex) are being used all over the place for storage, bunkers, offices, living. I think Hope said he had 6 on his property. Now the Tumbleweed house was pretty cool. Not sure about full time living, but for a get away place, kind of nice.

That almost looks like the play house I built for my son and his friends when they were around 5 or 6. I put a bathroom in it with a sink, and electricity for lights and to recharge batteries (that was a must). Six of them would comfortably camp out in there, if the weather was bad. I built the table on hinges, so when they wanted to use it, they would just lift it up and 2 legs would come down and lock. It was a great little house. Ah the memories....

Unfortunately, that was said by a couple of the kids (sad). The thing that got me was I told the other parents that I was going to build it and asked if they minded if their child helped. I told them it would be great if we made it a father son project, but not to worry, I was paying for it. Not 1 father helped (again sad). The only thing I really needed help with was the plumbing (not my expertise), a neighbor that didn't have any kids, volunteered to do it. The mothers took turns making the lunches, that was cool. Some older kids (teenagers) helped with building the roof, that was really great.
By the time they were 10, they wanted air-conditioning for the hot summer days. I told them I would put in a window air-conditioner if they paid for it, by shoveling snow for me all winter. They did it, so I did. It was great to see the kids working as a team, first helping to build it, then 5 years later, with shoveling the snow. Which by the way they had to do each winter to pay for their share of the cost of the electric bill for the club house. Great times...

I wish, my son was killed in '96. He did the first Gulf War, then Bosnia, then Somalia, then was killed heading back to the base, by a car of drunks. Go figure...
