View Full Version : Politicos be warned!

Well I've turned a blind eye to some of the political crapola going on here, figuring that it would just run it's course & perhaps die of loneliness. But lately I've been getting many complaints about "political" posts on this forum when that kind of thing is expressly forbidden. I still hesitated because when I checked the threads, some of those posting responses were also the complainers, as well as another "mod" adding his views & jokes into the mix. However, now that the other "mod" has also posted the rules for the benefit of all of the new arrivals showing up, as well as the large number of complaints I've received; I've had to reconsider & have shut down all the political threads that have cropped up as of late. Let's face it; this is NOT a "WTSHTF" or "TEOTWAWKI" site. This is a dedicated "Wilderness Survival" site. Political opinions, viewpoints, speculation, debating, etc. have nothing to do with Wilderness Survival &, as Rick just so recently pointed out, are not allowed by the rules. So, in the future, I will be shutting down any threads that, in my opinion, are political in nature. I realize that this may anger a few of you, but the rules are the rules, end of discussion.

But, Sarge! Those political discussions are in the General Chat area, which was designed for off-topic discussions. Wasn't it?

What will we do for entertainment if Bragg is silenced?

Survival has had to be used as a result from natural disasters, accidents, carelessness and politics.

If politics puts us in a survival situation because of something done or not done can it not be discussed?

I think about all the displaced persons and genocides due to the "leaders" and politics. I for one would like to read other's view points.

Information is a tool. If your planning a camping trip, due you disregard the weather forecast? No.

Your choice. I'll adapt.

Shutting the old Braggster down ay? Well, disappointed for sure, but rules are rules. It was always appreciated that the mods here turned a blind eye when posts hinted on political issues going on around us. Many thanks.

Too bad really. there was a good balance here. The "other mod" and your self Sarge kept things balanced and controlled. There was never any fighting, bickering or bashing. There was never any my Democrats are better than your Republicans stuff. Just good information wether it was right or wrong, fake or real but all pertained to what is going on around us. It's a shame to see it go.

Ever wonder why we have had an influx of new membership here. Could it be from the economic instability that is going on around us?

Good luck everyone.

Ain't no question in this cowboys mind why all the new members. Here is my question, where is the line. One of Rick's favorite subjects is CCW in Federal parks and or State Parks. Is this political....? Or the "King's" (Chris) on going thread about political sign's...? Where is the line......?

Ole WV Coot

I am kinda simple in my thinking on said subject:
RELIGIOUS - YES I am, I could care less what you believe
POLITICS - Only local & state, the rest are all the same. I could care less
REDNECK, HILLBILLY - Jokes OK, don't get personal
I actually enjoy discussions just about everything
I actually think most of us are big boys & girls and can discuss most anything, JUST DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL, I've had my say and you are welcome to PM me if I step on your toes and you will get an answer.

and if Pop just stepped on your toes, chances are pretty good he's about to spit some tobacco juice in yer eyes and shoot ya, so maybe just wiggle your toes out and let it slide.

I think government is good for people who want to be governed, doesn't matter a pinch of s*it in a sandstorm which crook is running it, but man...I don't want to tick off the Sarge.

Complaints to a moderator are about as common as sunshine. It's sort of amazing that you can receive two complaints that are completely opposite. One person complaining that there is too much political banter, for example, and the next person wanting to see more. I made a post a day or two ago and received a bad rep for not adding to the post. I also received good rep because what I posted was funny. Go figure.

Okay guys, here's my viewpoint.

About Chris' sign; that wasn't so much of a political discussion as it was a question on how to keep/catch vandals from destroying his personal property.

As far as Bragg's posts goes, I figured no one had to see them if they didn't want to...like me! Also, I ignored just about everything he had to say except for the Elvis crack & giving his employees the day off with pay...which I found hilarious:D. I think of Bragg as one of those guys with long hair & a beard wearing ragged clothes and a "sandwich" sign that reads "THE END OF WORLD IS NEAR!!!". However, unless those that complained choose to come public with their opinions then it remains confidential as to who said what. I, for the record, did not as I don't listen to the political rantings of the general public regarding political opinions. My opinion is that: A.) Opinions are like rectums; everyone's got one and they usually smell bad.
B.) They're usually worth just what you pay for them.
C.) NEVER TRUST A POLITICIAN!!! So why cry about what's happening? Enjoy life one day at a time because every day above ground is a good day.
D.) Finally, I go by the name of Sarge because, like a good Sergent, I follow orders without trying to justify them. If Chris decides I over-reacted or was wrong then that's his call & I'll follow whatever he says. SEMPER FI!

Bragg - I'm happy to let you know that I flagged a few of your posts. Probably less than I have publicly commented as to their inappropriate nature for this forum. Here's why..... When I first came to this forum I was pretty new to forums. After joining and enjoying reading, researching and participating - I looked around at quite a few other forums. Most of what I found did not restrict political or religious discussions. It took very little time at all for those discussions to turn into out and out bashing. For that reason I have never participated in any of those forums. I wonder how many members that may not understand the nature of your posts have left, or how many never joined. You may say that's their problem, but I think we all lose. Did it turn into bashing here? No not really. It is my fervent belief that you kept pushing the limit to spark controversy and yank a few chains, but since you know of the forum rules, you usually knew when to pull back. Like I said, I attempted via the public posts before I ever flagged a single post of yours (not sure how many I flagged, maybe 3 or 4). I don't always disagree with your post, just as I agreed with a number of (shudder the thought) SR's. They just have no place here based on the rules.

Well Crash, if you flagged them, I know it was done for the right reason, and deservedly so. IMO you probably the most level headed member we have here and I trust your judgements. For the most part, I try not to yank the chains to get a disruption going but on occasion I have hesitated pushing the send button before pushing it, and have crossed the invisible line.

The problem is the definition of the line. I really don't see the difference between 'All US Army Field Manuals' and 'The Master Plan. They are both relevant. (I was testing the water)

Hogwash locking 'The Master Plan'.

Anyways, I wish the general membership could vote on who are the "Moderators" here, you would certainly have my vote. ;)

Where do I now correct the post about the Mustang Ranch failing? What you ask?
"They" seized the buildings and land. "They" were uncomfortable owning a brothel and put it up for sale on eBay, where Lance Gilman, owner of the Wild Horse Resort and Spa brothel bought it for $145,000 in cash.

Eveyone's always willing to be helpfull and I sure as he77 don't want to see this forum go the way the ones did that Crash was talking about.

I should have known better. I was cleaning a Buck insert last week and dropped the door on my big toe, barefoot naturally. It's getting that time of the year for us Hillbillies to start wearing shoes again and I can't. It was a poor choice of words and when my big toe heals I promise to kick myself, severely

Buck insert? Is that like a deer enema?

You get a couple of kind words and attack an injured older gentleman, shame! I will explain to those who kill and torture bugs for fun and profit in warmer climates. Buck(brand name) insert(stove that fits inside a fireplace). Chimney sweep wanted $125.00 to clean the chimney(the thingy smoke goes up and Santa comes down). I bought the thingys(trying not to get technical) to clean said chimney for $61 and did so. My dear wife, whom I love, adore and OBEY said the stove doors needed cleaning. I removed door pins (they hold the doors), took them away from the house, cleaned and was informed to take off my shoes and don't track. I instantly obeyed, set the doors to said insert (stove that fits inside fireplace) on the hearth. In replacing one door I gently tapped the brass pin(hinge pin that holds the door) with a hammer causing the other door to slide off and strike my big toe on it's edge (door's edge, not toe). I next remembered foul, dirty words rebounding off the walls and tears down my cheeks all alone. (TDW) dislikes me telling objects using simple 4 letter words that said stove could understand what I intended to do. REAL men injure themselves to prove they are MEN. Nuff said, now I must change my bandage.

Now that was a double whammy aimed in my direction. You didn't say Beretta you implied it, that's even worse forcing me to think. If it's stopped raining in Jacksonville I may drive down and visit some old friends. I don't think I will be spotted in my high water 4X4, gun rack, rusted CB antenna, NRA stickers covering the bullet holes, WV tags and the driver's side brown with tobacco juice. I shouldn't stick out. I need to understand how a couple of brownie points can just turn a man bad. It's a sad, sad situation that turns a half-way decent? man with a word of praise and I even believed a word or two he wrote. I am so ashamed.:o

OK Sarge, But Chris did "NOT" have to say who was on the sign. He could have just said political sign, and on more than one post state who the candidate is he is supporting.

1st, it's Chris' forum. 2nd, he gave us all the facts but did NOT answer a question regarding his view on the candidates that was raised afterwords. 3rd, it's not a perfect world. I belong to a Magician's forum that boasts over 36,000 members, including some very famous ones. (The Magic Cafe.com for those of you who'd like to visit.) There if you violate the rules you don't even get a warning; just BANG! & you're post, thread, or you are but a memory. No explanation or anything. (BTW, I've finally started earning a few bucks with my magic & that has kinda taken over more of my time as of late.) I've mentioned a special place before for certain controversial topics & was put down by most on here for the idea; however I think it would be a cool idea and would keep it out of the mainstream of the rest of the stuff.
