need ideas for

so in two weeks my family and i are going camping like every year (for a jewish holiday) and go off into the woods with a knife book of matches and a friend......... so i need ideas for quick shelter:D:D:D

Depending on the temperature, and the enviroment in which you are planning to stay, I suggest spending your efforts constructuing a debris hut. Are you planning on going during cold weather, is the forests northern? A lean to will offer little to no protection from cold temperatures, even if you place a fire reflecter and a good fire near it. I would consider those types of shelters more effective in warmer climates or temperatures where staying dry is the main priority.

yukon, you said you do this every year, why do you need ideas for a shelter this year? Take a tarp, bend some little trees over, throw the tarp over them-- my favorite fast shelter.

either way, once you're out of the wind in cold weather you can do plenty to add extra insulation or warm it up from the inside,depends on if you want to do a little extra work on your construction. I'm only talking about a quick emergency style shelter here Jericho. If I'm out in Manitoba winter I definitely prefer a log cabin with a nice iron woodburning stove, next after that one of them bigazzed prospector tents, but for an emergency get yourself out of the wind is numero uno.

A debris hut is an emergency shelter, and can be constructed under an hour. Depends on the enviroment, you can be right in the middle of a forest that is shielded from the winds but you could be in the open on a great plain or high in a mountain, then sheilding yourself from the wind becomes your first priority. Like I said, it all depends on the situation and enviroment.

a tent......... well my parents stay in a tent this my first time going to sleep in the woods in a survival shelter i usaaly stay in a two man tent but that broke last year

Why not get a cheap hammock and a tarp to keep the ran/sun off of you? Use a sleeping bag and if you really need to, you can place hot hands in bag with you if you get cold.

Try the local freecycle group,and see if anyone has a useable tent to get rid of (on freecycle,things are free,no cost other than to pick it up).
If you get one,you still can practice making functional shelters while on your trip.
