Layman's explanation of the financial situation

Layman's explanation of our situation:

1. The current "Ponzi Pyramid of Death" monetary system is crumbling.

2. Right now, virtually every single large bank, medium-sized bank, hedge fund, pension fund, mutual fund, money market fund, stock broker and insurance company has failed or is failing. All the phony paper they have been trading back and forth is virtually worthless.

3. Somewhere between $10-$20 TRILLION (estimates are hard to make due to the opaque nature of the derivatives markets) in debt and derivatives "value" has been wiped off the books of the above-mentioned players.

4. The players are failing left-and-tight. ALL of the biggest, oldest Wall Street banks, plus the largest insurance company plus the two largest mortgage companies (Fannie and Freddie), plus the entire money market, plus the largest S&L, allfailed in the span of three weeks. The rest of the thousands of institutions worldwide are mortally wounded will be toppling over soon.

5. Governments and central banks worldwide have already pumped approximately $5 trillion collectively to date to fight this systemic, sychronized, worldwide, complete, utter collapse. So far, their efforts have failed.

6. At this point, the fight will continue to the death. During these next few weeks, months, and even years the "economic convulsions" between the "Ponzi Pyramid" debt collapse destruction-deflation and government and central bank reflation/monetization/nationalization efforts will rage, with the back-and-forth battles getting wilder and wilder, until:

7. The entire world is plunged into financial demise, with the people of all the nations suffering mightily. "Great Depression II" will ensue for the next five to forty years.

8. During this time, if the world doesn't blow itself up in all the wars that will surely follow, tens of millions of people in the U.S. are going to learn to fear debt and living beyond their means. This is a good thing.

9.Eventually, hopefully, the U.S. pulls through in one piece, the people's stock, bond, and housing assets are decimated, many have lost their jobs, but we all learn discipline, humility and sobriety and as a result, our national character grows.

10. We come through chastened and humble. Exactly what we need.

I don't like the thought that in a weak finical situation a country like Russia may decide to kick us when were down. Lets say the market collapses and all the countries we buy oil from stop selling to us, virtually all Americans would find themselves living in 1860. I don't have a problem with that but we would be vulnerable to a military attack. Never mind how the loss of Starbucks would leave millions of people very grumpy.

think about it, i know red dawn is pure fictional but lets look at the amount of gangs and firearms within the US it would be pure suicide to attack, while i think it would lead to all out world war by doing so, as someone i know always says "so be it". i have stated this before and i live by it if tommorrow i lose all that i have it is just another opportunity and adventure to go on, now i do not wish this on my loved ones as they do not share my enthusiasim as nither do the tim horton and starbuck crowds but material things are just that material, have you ever seen the movie white oleander, the main character can't recall her name is talking to cole hauser about her mom as they watch a wild fire she says that her mom used to make her practice packing up quick and leaving if the fires got to close she said "if your brave you'll take nothing" i like that.

naw i don't see that even thought the economy tanks everyone still knows that we can shoot back not to worry about the ruskies, maybe a dirty bomb from some terroist but no major country will risk world destruction

World destruction? Are you serious? they don't care about about world destruction. they just want us infidales dead. They have a different mindset set then us, a different world view, a different culture. We don't fully appreciate the way our Current enemies think.

current enemies don't have the capability to release a nuke only dirty, you mentioned the ruskies and they know what is what we played that game already, but like i said it is what is if it all ends tommorrow then so be it. tommy lee jones had the perfect quote i beleive it went something like" what ever it is gentlemen can we agree that what ever happens is inevitable" the future is going to happen no matter how much or little we worry about it so i worry about how am i gonna find good tinder after 4 inches of rain, thats worth pondering not giving all my energy to someone else

Absolutly! The political stuff is way over my head. I just spend more time in the woods as things get screwier in the world. As far as good tinder goes I wrap the soaked stuff in a bandana and stuff it down my shirt. Body heat dries it well. And when all else fails hand sanitizer works great as an accelerant.

good idea laughing one but i personally prfer natural tinder it may work for you and if your comfy with it great but i like what the bush povides, not to worry though plenty of dry stuff even after 4 inches of water or snow

understood sir. I almost never have to use sanitizer because I live in an area where there are always pine needles around. they light up like gasoline:D I had tried the sanitizer as an experiment as I had seen it mentioned on one of the threads. It works so I filed the info away as something good to know:)
