Does anyone know where I can find an exploded view of the MOLLE system? I bought the main ruck sack and would like to know how it is supposed to attach to the frame as well as other bags attach to it.

Well I ended up cutting off both bottom compression straps to use for attaching to my pack frame. I love it. It is big enough to carry all I need but still yet small enough on the frame I can put my sleeping bag and tarp on the shelf. For $20 including shipping you can't go wrong. IMHO

I'm an Alice Pack guy myself. I've heard a lot of bad comments on the Molle. Some of the guys I've talked to that were in Iraq/Afghanistan preferred the Alice. Anyway, works for me.

Made the first "pack trip" with the MOLLE pack this weekend. Went to Sams Throne in Mt. Judea, Arkansas. Worked pretty well. Needed different shoulder straps for my frame but I've got them on the way thanks to e bay. I used the map compartment for a hydration bladder from good ol' Wal Mart. Made the pack pull back on my shoulders a little but I think new straps will fix a lot of that. After I get the straps I will see if I need the kidney belt as well. All in all it worked fine no major problems other than if I ever set another one up I will leave the compression straps alone and buy webbing.

If I understand you correctly, the pack doesn't have a kidney pad(?) You shoulders will always give you problems if you don't transfer the weight to your hips/frame unless you are carrying no weight to speak of. Just my .02.

It's not that they hurt or anything and it may have been the way I loaded it but it seemed like I was being pulled backward. Like I was top heavy.

They will. I would recommend that you use the kidney pad/belt.

If you transfer the weight down to your hips then your center of balance will also be lower. Think about how your shoulders are constructed and size of the muscles in the shoulder and upper back. The constant pulling back and down will start to strain them in short order. Now think about the size of the muscles in your upper legs and hips and how your hips are constructed. The weight sitting there can be carried for a long time without tiring your hip muscles unless you are hauling 60-80+ pounds.

My day pack is about 14 pounds and my travel pack is about 25. That's with water. My day pack doesn't have a kidney pad and I've used it for 2-3 days hikes. My shoulders always tell me about it afterwards.
