Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm currently in IN, but getting ready to make a move back to WV. I've been a computer geek for the most of my life, but for some reason I have reached a point where the wilderness and nature have started to feel a lot more important to me. I don't have nearly as much experience with the outdoors as most of you probably do ( aside from growing up in WV :) ). I guess the only way to remedy that is info and practice.

Current readings:
SAS Survival Handbook
Peterson Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants

What part of this fine state are you moving to? You have plenty of woods and animals anywhere. Welcome home.

Howdy,

Similar story - bugged out of the high tech rat race 7 - 8 years ago... luck timing!

Now live on a mountain in one of the safest places on earth - play on the tractor, hike, fish, worry over skunks, cut firewood... still do high tech for a living but on my own terms now.

Moving down to the Beckley area. Grew up in Slab Fork, but my wifes family is from down towards Hinton so that's where we're going. Hopefully we'll be able to find work (the downside of moving from the city).
