Another Monday approaches and I wonder if this one will be the day where we start down the slippery slope to financial Armageddon.

The local car dealers are desperate, as are the RV and boat dealers!
The diner is almost empty every night!

Places that I frequent that have never seen a down turn are seeing business slack off by 10-20-30%.

The little local airport has always been steady and is off 10+% so far.

The one exception is the low end grocery chain which is busy as never before, the well off folks wouldn't stoop so low until now.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE GOLD AND SILVER, YOU ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME FAST !

You might consider finding a nice little Ruger Ranch rifle in 223 as well
and 200 rounds of ammo.

I have noticed over the past month or so that the coffee shop that I stop in occasionally that is normally full has been empty the last few times I have been in there. I guess it is getting tougher to afford a $4 cup of coffee on a regular basis. Glad I have my own espresso machine!

We just returned from Historic Williamsburg - prime vacation time - several employees commented on how empty the place was relative to most years.

The place was not quite a ghost town but not at all crowded.

The hotel parking lot was practically empty.

Heard on the news Sunday that Ford is delaying making their new model year trucks, because dealers cannot move current inventory. Now, any delay is significant (but not unexpected), but 6 months is a big delay!

Chrysler is giving a $2.99 per gallon gas guarentee. Buy a Chrysler car now and for the next 3 years you get gas for $2.99 per gallon. Don't know how they will do it, if other stations are involved or if Chrysler will create thousands of their own stations, or if dealerships will now sell gas.

bulrush The Chrysler is giving a $2.99 per gallon gas guarantee is a selling point. If you look at it you only get that cost for 12,000 miles a year.

Do the math and you will see that is a savings on just a few hundred dollars. If gas goes to $7 then a couple thousand $. With the rebates and cost cutting all of them are giving. It is not that much of a savings.

Save your cash and look for something that gets 50 or more MPG. I have been looking at a motor scooter. With a small trailer to pull behind it.

I agree. If you haven't bought that gas guzzling, propane sucking, insurance killing, gold hauling motor home ya'll better hurry. Nothing like experiencing Armageddon without one. No satellite TV. No microwave. No refrigerator/freezer. No captains chairs, No surround sound. No one in their right mind would tolerate that.

I told you, Bragg. You can't go out and buy something like that then post like the end is near. That's hypocritical if not down right hypoallergenic.:rolleyes:

What? I'm prepared. No debt. Gold and silver is doing well, even with the manipulation going on. Food and fuel stored. 87K off original MSRP compared to a year ago on the coach - smokin deal. Might even buy a new river jet boat because of your comments.

What else am I gonna spend my money on before the inevitable financial collapse?

By the by.....hows your stocks doing?

It's the PPT's regularly scheduled Monday Morning Massacre of course. Gold, down $21 in ONE MINUTE! Silver, down $.82 in about the same amount of time. Anybody can see that this type of movement in the pm's market is highly abnormal and unlikely to the point of extreme. At a time when the dollars fundamentals look increasingly worse every day and gold's and silver's look better and better every day it can be nothing but outright manipulation to save the dollar from total collapse.

Every Friday when gold/silver close up nicely for the week you can expect the following Monday morning smackdown. It has been happening quite regularly since mid-March. The real question is how much longer can they deep doing it? Eventually one or the other must give - the dollar or gold. Which will it be? Fundamentals. Fundamentals. Fundamentals. Proof of this is that every time they drop gold to its low - usually around $850 to $860 - they back off and let the market honestly raise it up again. Everyone knows the pattern now and wait for the knock down to jump in and buy and push the price right back up. The PPT is able to knock the price down but they are quite unable to keep it down. Buy...buy...buy.

You have to love these games. But eventually they have to end. Have you noticed that the big moves always happen around the same time?

I remember (I'm sure Hopeak does too) back in 1979 when the Hunt brothers decided they could make a fortune in precious metals. They did an incredible job of manipulating the silver market for quite some time. Two men with enough money to drive the market up or down based on the amount they bought or sold.

Here's a pretty good article on the subject. Pay particular attention to the last paragraph. Although the numbers today are not nearly as high as they were in 1980, there are some close parallels between then and now. Year end 2009 will probably end like year in 1980.

Stopped by an old petroleum wholesaler today, looks like he will be going out of business soon. Been in business for over 40 years, between the EPA, IRS, and now the petroleum pricing, it does not look good.

He said that it's only going to get worse on the petroleum front.


One question for Ol Bragg........so, you have all these investments in gold and silver, if the S really HTF, what good is the paper that your investments are written on. Now, if you are stockpiling the stuff, may be a good idea until somebody finds out, 300 yd shot and it's all over.

There were many during the stock market crash in the 30's who had investments, problem was, they could not collect and ended up in the same boat as the working man.

Now, ya can always get all your biker budds up thar, start a giant biker commune. Only problem, as with all groups and leaders, someone is going to want to take ya out for the gold.

I'm not worried about it FVR, guys gotta go sometime, and it's just worldly possessions anyways. If it ain't my gold and silver it will be my stockpiled food, livestock, guns and ammo or a hundred other things they will just take. That's why I live out here, got more of a fighting chance to survive working with others.

(Hell, I can't remember where I buried most of that shiny metal anyways.)
