Question on folding knives for collectors

While getting all the "in the box" pocket knives I have to give my grandson most of the "Collector" editions, especially those made by Case are Trapper models. Almost all of the name brand knives were the same. Besides the Trapper being popular with some, but not with me can anyone think of a logical reason this pattern is the most engraved, numbered etc. Any logical theory or guess would be appreciated.:)

It was the "STANDARD" for a Working knife, for outdoors men. If you knew what you were doing you could skin/butcher Muskrats or Moose with that sweetie. There was a time they were given away buy the handful. That knife or a variant the "Muskrat Skinner" is the most used knife by Taxidermy shops.

I knew it was popular, I carried one and you can skin or cut up almost anything. Call it just being curious but when you lay out around 100 knives and 3/4 of them are trappers and I couldn't find out why I thought the maybe the handle shape and clip blade were big enough for that purpose. They were given away around Christmas in factories and especially coal mines by the foremen, it was like that for as long as I can remember and still is. I was hoping someone might have a better idea.

It just works, It is a simple as that. The Taxidermy shops give them to the Guides by the box. Note: we would round that "Clip Point" on the belt sander, so it looked like a small butter knife, then we could use it to turn lips, ears, toes, etc.
