I hate that when that happens

My woodstove handle malfunctioned and would not let the door open to the stove. The handle had a square shaft that a cam rides on and when the door is closed and the handle tightened, the cam tightens against the backside of the door frame and holds the door shut. Anyhoo the square shaft rounded out and the cam would not release the door. A little cussing and whatnot I finally got it open. Thought about building the shaft by welding and then reshaping back to square. Decided against it because figured I would be right back to a rounded shaft sooner or later.


So I redesigned the door by adding a latch.

the handle needed to be bent from a 45 degree angle to a ninety degree angle in order to engage the latch. It's not artistic but it is robust and not prone to failure LOL

I use the mora for making wood shavings for fire starting, the dogs so far have known better, for now LOL

It was the springer pup that was mad at being left home......sanded the red paint off along with some splinters...so has some "character".....Now.

Mine is for opening chip bags, and slicing apples and other "recliner" needs.....

Nice stove....friend has a Huntsman in his log cabin......

Nice job on the stove. I think (not sure) that jimping just applies to notches or grooves cut in the steel. Handle work? Not sure other than carving.

I've never understood how we can engineer stuff in our garage that's better than an engineer with a degree and a company full of equipment. Anyhoo. Yeah, I like it. You can file it then call it anything you want. Heck, you can even make up a name if want. Maybe...Randying.
