Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, at least one more Federal agency has been operating in constitutionally cloudy waters. This unit within the DEA has been in operation since 1994. It is the official policy of the agency to falsify reports, documents, and testimony so as to keep the mere existence of this group unknown. How many more agencies have similar units? FBI? DHS? BATF? The whole shroud of secrecy seems to be more about hiding illegal methods than protecting legitimate sources. Maybe this is just another non-scandal scandal that the White House will spin?

Finally, there's confirmation of a practice that many of my colleauges and I have suspected for years.

The entire concept of a "confidential informant" as the basis for securing a warrant, as well as the practice of justifying a search based upon a "hit" by a police drug dog, stinks to High Heaven.

Use of the NSA's resources for such investigations, and the practice of not disclosing the actual basis for a search and/or investigation by law enforcement authorities, are both serious criminal offenses. I've won more than a few cases when I've proven that a criminal defendant had been charged with crimes far less serious than those committed by law enforcement in order to make the arrest.

I cannot count the times I have PROVEN that several law enforcement agents conspired to commit wholesale perjury, and did in fact commit perjury in a significant and material way, at various stages of an investigation, which sometimes continued right through the trial itself. Officers have substantially lied on affidavits, warrant returns, and reports, and have given knowingly false testimony at suppression hearings, Frank's hearings, and during trial. Several judges, with only one exception I can recall in almost 30 years, refuse to take any action against perjury by police authorities. Most issue findings that "determine" that the officers were "merely mistaken" when they boldly lied, time after time, during a proceeding. It makes me sick to my stomach to know that so many investigators and prosecutors have virtual immunity when they are caught perverting the legal process. All of these people involved at any stage of such activities all belong in federal prison.

There is one prosecutor, ONLY ONE, that I know who has dismissed a case when I gave him evidence of police perjury. He actually stood up in court and informed the judge that the officer had zero credibility and should be fired. But we all know that didn't happen.

I actually had one judge CONVICT my client just to protect 2 police officers who had undeniably lied in trial. They actually testified to facts that the physical evidence showed was impossible. Fortunately, a judge on appeal dismissed the charges based on a finding of perjury by the officers.

I could write volumes more about this. Just remember that I've written several posts in the Forums where I've said the system is corrupt. Sadly, it is.

No. However, it's about damned time that it was acknowledged in the press.

This is only the tip of the iceberg. More and more information will begin to leak about a myriad of unconstitutional and criminal activities on the part of government agencies. I sincerely believe that the public will be furious when they learn about what their government has been doing under the guise of "national security." Our leaders and government officials have conspired and lied to the people, to the press, to Congress, to juries, and to the world about their intentions and activities. And all of it will be made public in our lifetime.

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you wish, but it's becoming more and more obvious to me that the massive build-up of the Homeland Security Army is for the purpose of controlling civil unrest once the nation finally wakes up to the fact that our government has evolved into a police state that makes the Stasi and the KGB look like gangs of Barney Fyfes.

I think that Google Earth is quickly becoming a favorite tool of the code enforcement and tax collector people.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's revealed someday that Google is nothing more than another clandestine enterprise funded and controlled by our government for the purpose of gathering intelligence.

A few months ago, I looked at the very same front step on Google Street View. Think of the immense value that type of a database has for our government. And then, imagine the type of information stored by Google that it only available to the government.

Of course, and it's no secret that they use it. It's no secret that they will coerce, strong-arm and demand preferential use of such services and that they do, sometimes with full cooperation, sometimes with reluctance and others in any place in between the two extremes, with this very company.

There's a difference. Sort of.

Information only available to some undefined group within our government. How can we hold these people accountable when they hold all the cards?
Just the mere name of NSA used to be classified information. No telling how far these programs and agencies have spread under this budget busting war on terror. With the implementation of a domestic drone program they'll soon have even greater real-time intelligence gathering capabilities and the option for a real-time response. Perfect system for keeping all the little sheeple in line. Better hope the administration doesn't claim that you're some type of domestic terrorist because we all know that under NDAA you can now be eliminated without charges, trial, or verdict of guilt.

Of course they didn't record the cell phone calls. There was no need. That conversation probably happened loudly in a public place which really didn't call for it anyway. They just have a guy with a notepad in the movie theatres and restaurants.

Let me see doom and gloom, paranoia, and whatever other terms you may choose to create are all attacks upon the messenger and not the message. That's how professional spin doctors usually apply their craft. When faced with facts they strike out at anyone who dares to express their concerns over what they believe to be illegal and fundamentally dangerous activities with attacks upon their intelligence, character, or state of mind. These aren't some wild theories dreamt up from the confines of a dark bunker in the Texas Hill Country, they were presented online from the major media group at Forbes.com. The facts speak for themselves and the preponderance of evidence which continues to come to light makes a compelling argument for a government seriously out of control. So if you want to make claims about "shrooms" here on this forum, maybe you should take a long, long, long hard look in the mirror?

Fair point. But experience has shown me that too large a percentage of the American public doesn't even know who their elected representatives are, couldn't find Washington DC on a map, name one possibly two cabinet secretaries or supreme court justices. If they choose to live in blissful ignorance, I think the term sheeple is not only fitting but appropriate.
