No, NYer's are really really good drivers, at least technically, just rude as anything. Big difference... Flatbush Ave on a Sunday afternoon is insanity. I always heard DC was hard to drive in. Compared to flatbush ave, DC is nothing.

I actually had my run in with the rudeness the other day. My hometown has two intersections that you have to be dense* to try to make a left turn from at certain times of day. Well, the person in front of me was turning left at one of these intersections (actually, they started like 4 cars in front of me). It's a 1 lane road, no right and left turn lanes and it's only a stop sign. Well, when someone tries to turn left, everyone passes them on the right cause they don't feel like waiting. Problem is that it makes it impossible for the person turning left to see what's coming. So I got up behind them and decided to do the right thing (something I'm constantly trying to improve on in my daily life) and wait for them to make their turn. The guy a few cars behind me didn't appreciate it and was on his horn for about 5 minutes while we all waited for the guy in front of me to turn left. I gave him the honker the finger and felt good about doing at least one right thing during those few minutes we had to wait.
There are 4 intersections that if I were a cop, I would sit at and give out tickets like they were candy for passing on the right, failing to stop at a stop sign, and failure to yield the right of way.

*non locals are exempt from this, but I see locals do it all the time and I just don't understand why since there are several ways to avoid these intersections.

I hate rudeness too, but choose to ignore it. Nothing more irritating to a rude person than pretending you don't see them. I also don't want to escalate anything by being rude back. There are all sorts of crazy people out there who don't need much excuse to do something stupid.

I walked Venice Beach back in the '90s. An unusual place to say the least.

The article noted that 2 victims, the Balcis, have no insurance to pay for their medical treatment or inventory losses. I'm almost certain that other victims, including the family of the woman killed, have and will suffer greatly from this intentional act of random violence.

Out of all of the states i've driven in, California and Arizona are the worst for Bad drivers, and discourteous drivers. I swear none of the vehicles in arizona or California have blinkers. and the center lane isn't your personal freeway. and you really don't have to go way over to the left to make a right turn. and 65 is really 90 MPH. and the far left lane its not ok to go 45 .

Except for most east coast states, and far north west states I've driven a lot of places and , top of the list for SUCK is CAL and Arizona.

I did have the impressive experience of seeing several fully-loaded semis doing 85 pull over onto the dirt shoulder without slowing down to let everybody pass. That one happened a lot.

Best part about driving in texas is how people wait till the last second to stop then slam on the brakes . keeps ya on your toes that way.

I have driven in 49 of the 50 states. Each and every state has their own particular "thang". I do recall how nice and friendly the California Highway Patrol was back in 1976. I was driving on the Interstate, heading to Santa Barbara from San Diego. I was south of Los Angles and doing about 40 mph above the speed limit (55 at the time) on my motorcycle. A patrol car pulled along side me - I thought for sure I was a goner. He motioned for me to slow down a bit and went on his way.

I hosted an Asia Pacific group several years ago. One of them was from Maylasia. He had a terrific sense of humor and spoke quite excellent English. He left O'Hare airport and hit I94. A few miles later a state trooper pulled him over. He handed over his passport and Malaysian driver's license. In very broken English he asked what the problem was. The trooper explained that he was driving too fast. No, he countered, He was doing 94 just like the sign said. After a short explanation on which signs to look at at what numbers they corresponded to on the dash he was sent on his way.

What you don't understand is everyone in Texas knows where everyone else lives so they know where they are going. Bubba is gonna turn left at the next corner 'cause that's where he lives. Why should he signal? Everyone knows that. As for the litter, I was told a long time ago that to find Texas all you had to do was go west until you hit Kansas then go south until you stepped in cow chit and you'd be there. They're used to having chit scattered everywhere.
