Came to work early this morning before the lockdown went city wide...... it is a surreal scene in the city. Blackhawks, armored vehicles soldiers everywhere.... I saw like 3 different bomb squads this morning. We ended up getting evacuated out of our jobsite and I'm safe at home about 20 miles outside the city...
What a crazy week it's been, just surreal.

Newton, Belmont, Watertown, Boston, Cambridge, Arlington, Allston-Brighton, Somerville, Brookline, and Waltham all locked down with a shelter order.

Theyre not so much searching houses as they are searching houses for the hostage situation they expect to find. I was in Boston and bugged out. Always gotta be prepared for anything. I parked in a garage right near 93 and Mass Pike interchange... either of which can get me out of the city quickly.

This is an "in"situation.

If you were someone stuck at home though, this WOULD be the perfect time to make sure all your weapons were in functioning order, loaded, and ready for use in case the fugitive tries to make hostages of your family, or in case you happen upon the opportunity to make a citizen's arrest. Just be careful and safe, the police have frayed nerves right now. I hope that this guy gets found soon.

I have a friend in lockdown. She just said "People sheltered in the city for work are now allowed to leave to go home. T still closed, but taxis are running."

I immediately thought about the bug in situation and if I would have been ready. I deem myself totally comfortable for about 4-5 days. Could go longer but would have to ration water.

They are bringing full bus loads of police officers in from other towns and states. FULL BUS LOADS!!! The news is showing 15 police officers getting out of a van at once.

I'm attempting to control my suspicious nature but damn it, is it really smart to have so many authorities in ONE freaking area??? Because seriously, if these two guys were not acting alone, this is a brilliant diversion.

Quite a few things coming out of this not to my liking.
-Total lockdown and search of houses. Haven't heard if they are just knocking on doors or actually going through houses to make sure no one is coerced. The second makes me uncomfortable.
-The thing about no weapons in sight is good advice. If you aren't holding it, it isn't under your control and they might just arrest you because they can.
- Never before has a city in the US been so shut down because of one man. It looks more like a police exercise than a manhunt. And if they don't find the kid in the last 30% of the Watertown cordon left to search before dark, they are gonna look mighty foolish. 10,000 men can't find 1?
- The entire city is shut down. The news was reporting that al Queda websites were dancing with glee that even if these guys aren't muslim extremists, they are claiming they are and that it is costing Boston hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars in a lost day's revenue and in the paid manpower and equipment out there. Seriously. Armed humvees? One kid on foot, even if he has a belt of explosives, only rates one humvee. Maybe 2.

Meanwhile, in other news, The President is writing or has written an EO on rolling back HIPPA to make states comply with NICS data entry. How far back? who knows? That's the only one I heard today. Are there others? What part about "The people said NO" doesn't he get?

1) they're going house to house in Watertown, storming in to every home with guns drawn, looking in every corner of the house for ONE MAN.

2) they're posting make, model, license plate of cars they are searching for, believing that THIS SAME MAN has hijacked these cars and then dumped them.

That aside, I've seen nothing on social media or the news that the police did anything improper or anything other than go door to door. Quite the opposite. Everyone, even the neighbors in Watertown, are praising them for the job they did. And that's at all levels of LEO. I am a little concerned over the suspension of his Constitutional rights for the sake of "security". This guy apparently became a U.S. citizen in November last year so the Constitution applies to him. If he were still a Russian national then I would not have quiet the concern. The dead older brother wasn't a US citizen and there was "heads up" about him 2 years ago when the authorities became aware of his Islamic radical rantings on line. I heard (in passing) that the Russians or the Chechens warned the US about him, but there was no follow up.
I'm sure more will come out.

This is just a reminder about that Patriot Act exception to the Constitution where even an American Citizen can apparently be held indefinitely, or perhaps even executed, without due process in the name of 'security'. Unacceptable. Even for scum like this.
