Little Trip Yesterday Afternoon

I went on a little bike ride near the Florida Trail just north of Alligator Alley in Big Cypress just south of the Seminole Reservation.

My camera is still screwing up and so I took these with my video camera. I thought the pictures would be much worse.

This gator was yawning and realized I was there and so she froze like that for a couple of minutes. She is in camo mode.

This just a video of two gators lounging, Given the proximity to mating season I am guessing that this is a mating pair with an unusual size difference.

I had a much larger male and his girl later and the water was almost half the width as this water. The big male was lying facing away from the water maybe 45 degrees. I was trying to get a brush free spot to take a picture when he exploded into the water. Since he had to turn back toward the water and he didn't have any precursor signs of moving. He really caught me off guard.

Given that he had to lunge completely into the water and that brought his head all the way over to my side of the bank. That was a really freaky feeling. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera rolling for that.

I got a lot of pictures of gators. But, they are all pretty boring.

I don't know where I have the picture. But, I took a picture of an alligator in this same spot that was just an amazing animal. It had pink and yellow belly markings on its side and probably the healthiest alligator ever. Just sat on a limestone caprock on waters edge and smiled at us.
