7 pm CST, "Dual Survival Upbraided!" The 1st hour introduces Joe Teti, Cody's new partner. 8 pm CST the 1st episode of the new season airs. Just saw a trailer and it looks great...the new guy looks pretty cool! :smartass:

Just saw a YouTube clip from the new Dual Survivor episode and it looks to me like Joe Teti has gone to the "Bear Grylls school of urine drinking!" In the clip he's trying to defend what he's about to do to Cody who's arguing against it! Joe Teti appears to be off my list of survival instructors who set the proper example! Next thing you know he'll be squeezing water out of elephant turds and drinking it!

Oh well, I mainly watch the program for Cody anyway! Bonn apatite pee breath! :smartass:

I saw the youtube of the entire episode. It was funny listening to Cody explain the many reasons why drinking pee is bad. I was surprised Teti ignored Cody.

It would have been nice to see a couple of non-pee drinking episodes before seeing that.......we will see.

"The jury is out, here.".
Frankly, I couldn' believe it. Like, swish and spitting urine is a psychological boost...it will give me an edge. Probably would provide the impetus to jump over the nearest cliff.
The incredibly high sodium content of the urine would cause your mouth to be dryer, not more moist. Have you ever eaten a plate load of oriental food laced liberally with MSG?
The next thing we know, Joe will be cutting his arm...

Pee drinking aside, I just didn't like Teti. His selection for the show lacks imagination. Yeah, he checks a lot of boxes, but something's missing.

I suspect that as the series progresses and they become more familiar with each other that they will both moderate some......unless it is production/entertainment driven by Discovery.

I'd give it a few episodes before writing the kid off, but they sure where trying to make it clear that he was a real " Operator " , he'll be alright, although I got the feeling he was trying to be an Actor and I was a bit put of by that.

Well, the full episode aired here in eastern NC already. I doubt the season will last...Teti will kill Cody and eat him. These guys hate each others guts. Sorry folks, I just ain't a Cody fan. Teti definitely doesn't have the patience to deal with barefooted hippies.

I have to say I do not like Teti either. He seems like he wants to be sure he is validated by Cody and just cannot get it from him because he does some stupid things. I am afraid this will definely kill the show.

Yeah, they need to be careful! I've been reading a lot of fan input at different sites and the majority want Joe gone and some want Dave back! It's not about how much of a bad-arse" Joe is, but how compatible he is with both Cody and the viewers. TV companies do not want low ratings!

I like Joe Teti just fine. They will eventually meld and work better together.

While I said I have no use for Dave C., he did come out and apologize for misrepresenting his military service. Not sure if I would watch a show with him in it or not.

It would be much more interesting and valuable (to me, at least) if Cody & Joe split up in each scenario and deal with the adversities on their own, the way they see fit. Then at the end we could judge the relative advantages & disadvantages of each approach.

To be fair though, when I listened to each one of them, they made sense. Joe's drinking pee wasn't exactly smart, but neither is Cody's walking barefoot.

I also wish they would explain things a little more at the expense of inane bantering. For example, in the desert location after they spent the first night: the priority was to find water...OK...but how did they decide which way to go? Based on what?
Just one sentence would have sufficed.

Just finished re-watching "Unbraided" and can't help thinking that the "Ultra-Secret" group that Joe Teti was with may well have been "Navy Seal Team 6!" HALO and SCUBA trained & able to dispatch targets on any terrain are clues that maybe he was at least trained by the SEALS. Military personal of all branches enter the SEALS, and that includes both the Army Special Forces and Marine Recon groups. As for Joe needing that "psychological edge" to get over the next hill, I noticed that the non-military-trained Cody Lundin did NOT need to do that and made it just fine. What's wrong with this picture? However, knowing as much about the Native Americans that he does I'm also surprised that Cody did not suggest an alternative to Joe to drinking his own urine. It's a well known fact that many desert tribes of Native Americans, like the Apache, used small pebbles that they would place in their mouth and suck on to re-hydrate their mouths when subject to the hot desert heat. I'd of thought Cody would of known this!

That being said, maybe Joe's alleged military experience is going to come into play next Tuesday. They'll be in Africa and they have to avoid poachers as well as the other stuff. Should prove interesting. Really like the suturing with the Leaf-Cutter Ants, that was cool! :balloon:

Delta would be my guess Sarge.

I liked it. The pee thing, ok, he psyched himself up for some type of mental boost. He did it, he may have gotten the placebo effect he psyched himself up for.

Cody seemed agitated the whole time. Hahaha

You can be sure that Discovery checked out his creds more since the Posing POS Canturbur..whatever.

The mention of the top secret bull****e is discovery doing their thing. I'll be surprised if Teti can get into some of the countries they may wanna shoot in.

The guy is fit, carries terrible fieldcraft knives, is not scared, and knows 20 yrs of specops work. He has my respect just for the Force Recon and Green Beanie.

Well that was according to what I saw on the Military channel, however, according to Wiki, this is interesting:

The Central Intelligence Agency (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Intelligence_Agency)'s highly secretive Special Activities Division (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_Activities_Division)(SAD) and more specifically its elite Special Operations Group (SOG) often works with and recruits operators from Delta Force.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Force#cite_note-4)

The thing that bothers me the most is they keep using the term "highly secretive," yet here it is where anybody can read about it!

Well, a tiny pebble in the mouth ain't hardly graphic on film.

Now if Joe whips out his watering hose, whizzes into his canteen cup and then drizzles the urine all over his lips and chin down onto his shirt while Lundin looks on with disgust, and the home audience goes "Ewwwwwwh" ... well, now THAT is graphic!

I'm not disagreeing with you, however Cody went on a rant about the rest of us wasting water and got all teary eyed. Also he's very well versed in how Native Americans survived on the desert. I thought it would have been a good thing about the pebbles. I'd say to "Whizz on Joe"...but he'd probably just drink it. :2:

I found it ironic that Cody was the dude pissing on his head cover last season and Dave pissed in a bag to light a fire, this new guy drank his piss so I think Discovery has covered pretty much all the basis. Mykel Hawke had a funny twitter post today on the topic. http://9gag.com/gag/6256348

I always saw Dave doing good videos where he used someone else's idea and just had a better camera presence. He didn't give or take credit. He just said this is what worked for me.

I like watching Dave.

The new guy has some over the top stuff. The knife, the way he looked at the knife before he used it to dispatch the pig. His new knife from Tops? WTF? Doesn't someone advise these people? Not useful for military or survival use really?

The show "Dual Survivors " leaves a lot to be desired as realistic. A guy walking barefoot over some of the terrain he walks is just plain stupid and asking for trouble. Also, anyone ever wonder where the filming crew, sound men, etc. sleep and eat?

It will take Joe awhile to learn to slow down, which IMO is what he really needs to do.

The knife design is still all military. Looks like a great tentpeg though.

Why is that most ex military personals who are hosts for survival series drink their own urine? Bear Grylls did it multitimes, Mykel Hawkes did it in the first season, and now Joe Titi also did it in the new series Dual Survival Season 3. It looks to me that its what they teach in the military SERES schools, how to drink urine to stay hydrated. Altough, Joe did explained, or at least tried to explain to Cody that it wasn't for hydrating purpse but more of a psychological thing. But for the rest of them, its probably another story.

We should all know by now: there's no one and only way to do anything.
There will be exceptions to just about any rule one can come up with so the best we can do is file it all away and do what we think is right for us when the time comes.

It's NOT just Cody who speaks against drinking your own urine. Both the US Army Survival Manual, which can be found on this site BTW, and is the book that both Joe and Mykel should be familiar with, says NOT to do it. The SAS survival manual that the British Special Forces use for their training, and one that Bear G. should have known about says that it's a no-no also. Every survival book on my shelf says NOT TO DO IT! Cody has been teaching survival for over 23 years and knows his stuff. His book, "98.6 Degrees..." teaches survival from a physiological view point, you can read Rick's review of it on my blog. I would trust Cody's knowledge in a survival situation over that of Joe's any day of the week. S.E.R.E. training teaches one how to get out of an enemy infested combat zone. Most civilians aren't going to find themselves in that situation. Getting lost and/or injured in the woods while hunting or hiking is more likely for the rest of us. Joe's sort of like a fish out of water. :detective:

I saw some "I survived" show about a mom with her two kids that wanted to go for a hike out in the woods and their car broke down. They started trying to walk back to the road. They had nothing. No water, compass, sunscreen, nothing.

I remember thinking that she should face charges for putting her kids in such danger.

After a few days of walking around in circles in the heat, she drank her own urine and she gave it to her kids, three times.

After the show they said that in a desperate situation you can do it. But after the second time, all that's left is poison.

Not according to the S.E.R.E. manual that I read on line. The only time that the military condones the drinking of urine is after it's been distilled. Urine is bodily waste that your body didn't want, so it got rid of it. Who, in their right mind, would want to put that back into their body? "People who drink their own urine undistilled survive DESPITE it, not because of of it!" That's a quote from the medical people I found on line. Your body stores up toxins prior to urination. The longer you wait, the more toxins you store. So by the time you get thirsty enough to drink your own urine you've already accumulated a lot of toxins that you are now ingesting back into your body. Note that Cody did NOT drink urine and made it out okay anyway! Both the US Army Survival manual and the SAS Survival book by John "Lofty" Wiseman say NO! However, if somebody wants to do something bad enough they'll even make up something to justify it! :nuke:

Having been through several training programs that Teti went through, the answer to urine drinking is --- NO! NO! NO! and more NOs.

After seeing the season premier, I have removed it from my DVR series dealie thing. Not solely because of the urine drinking, but the soap opera has gotten out of hand.

Having been through several training programs that Teti went through, the answer to urine drinking is --- NO! NO! NO! and more NOs.

After seeing the season premier, I have removed it from my DVR series dealie thing. Not solely because of the urine drinking, but the soap opera has gotten out of hand.

yea, its getting that reality tv feeling to it isn't it?

I am not willing to forgive Dave just because he has solid skills. Stealing honor from those who did do the things he claimed makes me and many others savagely pissed off.

He was in the Army. Why claim schools now that he didn't try to get earlier?

I don't see how posers sleep at night. Lifelong civilians think it's the same as lying about various other things, it can be as long as those other things required dedication, sweat, and blood.

I am a civilian. But, I have read where people who served with him said that he did teach his troops survival and that he did serve as a sniper. He had two days training with a weapon and was given the weapon he trained with in Korea and told he was a designated sniper. IIRC.

I am a Florida state certified master specialty electrical contractor. I know many people who operate on a daily basis as electricians who have no official certification at all. Non-union I would say that 95% of the people who call themselves electricians are not certified. They will still wire your stuff up 95% of the time right. Course I just made those statistics up on the spot. LOL

I have seen videos that Dave has made that were laughable in that he didn't really own the skill yet or he obviously copied someone else's video.

Everyone of these shows uses local experts to teach these guys when they come to different locals. It is all gamed and the risks are minimal. Exactly the way we advise our members here at this forum to experience "survival".

Bring Dave back...

I'd say don't hold your breath. Falsifying your military background and history is not only an offense to military personel, both active, former, and inactive, as well as non-military folks who look upon lying about it as a disgrace; if I understand it correctly, it's also a federal offense. Discovery would then be putting themselves in legal jeporady by bringing him back. Their lawyers have probably advised them against it, citing probable liability problems. They can never relent by bringing him back, so your all stuck with Joe Teti. :detective:

Every platoon has a designated marksman. I was one, I carried the m24 SWS but I never claimed Sniper.

Dave, repent and hope you don't run into anyone who has the creds you pretended to.

I watched 2 episodes last night: south africa and the new mexico desert. I have to say Joe knows his stuff and cody is turning into a primadonna. I don't believe it! Joe came on and talked about how the Apaches used to put small pebbles in their mouths to generate saliva! If he knows that, why in the world did he feel the need to rinse his mouth out with his own urine in that 1st episode? Something smells fishy to me! :2:

The thing to remember is that they post disclaimers at the very onset that these are "demonstrations." There obviously was a camera man with Joe down in that well. They're never claiming that they actually slept out in the wild, only Les Stroud did that. :cowboy:

Pig tails also indicate he is trying to fit an image. Also, Cody has a superiority complex about himself and there was a recent episode where they had ONE match. This show is becoming crap. Sort of like deadliest catch, the first one was great, then they made a soap opera out of it.

1.) I see places that I'll avoid like the plague!

2.) From Cody I learned that if you plan it carefully, you'll never pay for rent, utilities, or shoes and socks!

3.) In the "Africa" adventure I learned from Joe T., when he unbuttoned his shirt, that even ex-military guys need to keep working out, other wise they get a "Michelin around their middle!" :w00t:

Sorry Blade old buddy, but I'm gonna have to disagree with you here: "The Walking Dead" comes back on February 10th, American Idol season 13 has just started, And both Vegas and Elementary are pretty good. I can understand you not liking Dual Survival season 3, but until Les comes back on with more of his 10 day Survivorman shows(soon I hear.) you're just going to have to put "boots in the field," or just suck it up!
