Got up at 430am and got ready for work, drove to work by 6am and got my daily cop kit together, 730 respond to Code 5-officer needs assistance and help a city cop put three Johnny Butterbutts on the wall for fighting, during pat down of Johnny Butterbutt No.2 he slides two inch blade from his left wrist while i'm patting down his right leg, turns on me and as i stand he stick me in the left outside thigh with the 2 inch blade, I try to push Johnny Butterbutts head through brick wall with no success as he for some reason falls to ground after first hard push, hmmm, city cop I'm covering calls for Squad and Officer injured. 900am leaving hospital with eight stitches, headache, and stiff azz leg. 1000 at home taking Mortin and getting ready for the crap load of paperwork tomorrow morning.
Johnny Butterbut is taken to Justice Center after being treated for head injury, by fellow Deputy, man how the days go from bad to worse if you aren't on your game. Note Johnny Butterbutt had a history of assault on Police and city cop didn't let me know. Awaiting IA to call and Captain to check in on me.

Glad to hear you will be ok.You should have persisted with his head vs the brick wall.I think you would have been justified.
We start patting down from the top down, they were at tazer point (being held with a tazer on them) hands on the brick wall of the alley and I searched the 1st one and he was cuffed. The second was then searched... here's a pat down (no frisk) is done.
Johnny Butterbutt has his hands on the wall and legs spread apart, you start with the left or right wrist (this morning I chose the right... damn) and squeeze/need like bread/feel your way down to the waist, at waist go around belt line, place hands on chest and rub down to waist, next moving to the leg same side as you did the arm, go down to ankle and check pants cuff, then start at the top of the left or right wrist of other side and do same. Once doe place both hands on shoulders and gently and slowly push in while lowering to waist to clear back, then cuff. Others do it different, the pat down is done first before cuffing because it can be done for their and officer safety, and even just for questioning, but once the cuffs are applied they are under arrest, cuffing a suspect is an act of arresting and once you arrest them you cannot unarrest them or you leave yourself open to an unlawful arrest law suit. That is the law for Ohio but of course they differ with each state, do cops cuff and question and then uncuff and let go, sure they do. Is it legal in Ohio? No, can you be sued? Yup. Do I know cops who have been sued for it? Sure do.

Glad you're OK Beo. The way I trained people and was trained was that we had the subject lying face down, head to the left always making eye contact with my partner, arms straight out. My knee was in the middle of their back. Started at scalp and worked our way down. Any movement was met by what some may consider a harsh response. Of course we weren't doing a pat down on Johnny Butterbutt, it was a search of a hostile/terrorist. I guess my kind of search might be a bad thing on the 6 o'clock news. Again, glad you're OK.

Kinda pissed though, Oh well, and if he don't skate I'll get him again:D Damn did I say that... hmmm, anyway great pic Twinkie, I was doing the same when it happened as the cop but on the other leg. I used to put them on their knees with hands interlocked on heads but some pc azzhole said it was too rough their knees and thus it cruel and unuseual punishment.
Think you might want to tell that pc jerk that them Johnny Butterbutts might want to get used to being on their knees where you're sendin' 'em partner.

Now this is why I would never be able to do the job Trax does. For this reason he has my respect.
I never minded being shot at, as long as I could shoot back. It was always part of the job, I understood and accepted!
If assaulted I try to do permanent damage as fast as possible and then follow it up with some disabling after thoughts.
If Johnny Butterbutt's had tried that to me, there would have been a meat wagon called. That blade would have found its way deep up his arse. Making it easier on Dude, Bubba and Tyrone in teaching the finer social aspects of prison life to Johnny Butter.
I have no restraint. A never understood how you could get hurt by the Johnny Butterbutt's in the world and not give them reason to regret their actions. I also never could put that sign on my back that says Shoot Here!
Last: I bet Johnny Butterbutt's is sitting in his cell blaming you for the fact that he is in a cell. I can just hear him saying. I was drunk it was not my fault. It is his fault for making me mad when I was high. The Johnny Butterbutt's never have and never will see that they make their choices and reap what they deserve.

I think i figured out a procedural change that might benefit this situation.....
Step #1 ram perps head into brick wall, thus stunning him/possibly knocking unconcious.
Step #2 then as he is lying moaning on ground then you can easily pat him down with little risk of being stabbed ! ;)
Oh, and for the un-initiated, can you please explain to me what a "johnny butterbutt" is ? i dont get it :(

Here, we can cuff for "officer safety (and often do)" - then release if there is no reason for an arrest.
Having been stabbed in the past - I know how quick this can happen. Hindsight is always 20/20. Best wishes on a quick heal.

Legs doing good, walking on it and walking on the treadmill, its sore as heck and stiff but it will be fine, stitches come out in a week or two I guess, no one said when so if it looks healed I'm gonna take them out myself on Feb 26th. Hee hee, hey Adventure Doc what'd ya say? How long folks?

How 'bout calling your doc and setting up an appointment to have them removed. Duh!

Rick & Nell, not on workmens comp, the Sheriff's Office just gave me the three days off in conjunction with the weekend. I get paid for it anyway, and now its monday the 19th and I'm in the office sitting on my azz at a desk for a week listening to the secretary's complain about me.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh driving me nutts. Johnny Butterbutt is sitting in a cell pending a felony as Assault on a police officer is a felony in Ohio, I will be at his trial to give my account as to why he did this. Short version he had warrants and was gonna run but I backed a city guy up and he was stuck so I got stuck, I'll win this case and yeah I'm sure he blames me, the cities problems are all my fault so I say go ahead and pile them on cause I really don't give a she-it:D
Oh yeah stitches come out on the 28th, doc said they'll be ready by then, gonna do it myself as I can save the $20.00 office visit and have the EMT next door do it. I know, I'm cheap but it only cost me a beer with him.

What would your preference be Beo? Johnny Butterbutt gets a sentence that is relevant and meaningful in relation to the crime he committed? Does his time less mandatory parole etc....Or Johhny gets to spend 15 minutes or so (because really, you wouldn't even need that much time) alone in a locked room with the officer he stuck a knife into? Just wondering....
And a follow up. Does he do time in a county jail or state correctional facility? After we give him a fair trial and convict him, of course.
I'll take the 15 minutes and save the taxpayers there money, and no one have to worry bout his sorry azz again. And fair trial rick, pffffft he got the best schister his dope money could buy. His time would be 3 to 5 years max in state penn.

Ouwie! This looks like another wilderness job for Mr. Bandanna (folded) and Super Duct Tape! Faster than no dressing at all! More powerful than a band aid. Able to compress in a single wrap!
Yeah it hurt, but now its stitched up and looks alot better. Its only about an inch and a half maybe 2 inches long.

no joke , they were cross country ski-ing and i decided to go with them and climb a nearby hill (600 foot elevation change over 2 km) and when i came back they were gone . i was lucky someone came by and offered me a lift , it was 50 km to the nearest building. and it was the only car id seen in 20 minutes.

Hey Beowolf,
taking stitches out is easy. For each stitch, use a nail clipper and clip the stitch, then pull on the knot. If it sticks, put a hot wet washcloth on it for 5 minutes, repeat pull. You don't need no stinking EMT. I pulled 2 sets of stitches on myself, then I got more careful so I don't get stitches in the first place!
Right! Nothing like a dirty pair of nail clippers next to a wound. It'll work for sure.
After clipping his skank crusted toes he clipped his stitches and got gangrene:D
I had some hand surgery Friday and I've got about seven stitches. My whiney little butt is going to the doctor next Friday and he'll pop the stitches out for me, thank you very much. And my wife is an RN. You really think I'd let her do that? No way. She gave me a shot once when we first got married and my azz is still sore!

I know what you are saying there. My first wife was a nurse, When I got my ear rebuilt she offered to take the stitches out for me. Had to go get eleven of them redone.

nea they left me there last week , they said they were cold and sick of waiting for me so they went to a restraunt in sandilands, they said they came back and waited but by that time i alredy hitched a ride. i still live at home and usually there pretty good parents . besides the fact they wont let me work for more then 10 hours a week or buy a bb gun, much less a real one. they feed me and force me to go to school and thats what good parents do right? and yes i know i exadurated the situation but whats a story without a little embellishment.

Your not gonna believe this, Saturday morning with snow and ice everywhere I was taking the dogs to the groomers and when I got outta the car I slipped on the ice and as I fell with two dogs leashes in hand I went one way while they ran the other twisting me as I hit the ground, laugh if you wanna but I now have screwed up back and am laying here in bed with lap top on me cause the doctor said I pulled the muscles in the small of my back and brused the bottom of the spine. can barley move with shooting pain but Bayer Back and Body is amazing stuff with Icy Hot and Beer. So now i'm off today hoping it will get better. Stitches come out tomorrow though, and yeah the EMT next door is doing it.
Not a good situation at all. I had a similar thing two yeas ago only the leash grabbed my left index finger. Thought the blasted thing was broken. Your doc knows best but ice packs for swelling and keeping a pillow under your knees will work wonders. Flexeril is good but without the beer.;)
