If things go per usual I'll be home around 1:00 in the afternoon and out of the stupor by evening. I'll have one hand gimpied up this time so my typing will be slowed down but I'll type with attitude. I promise.

Tru story. 2 nurses talking at station. Patient had surgery yesterday. Noose tatoo around neck with rope tat going all the way down chest, stomach, to youwzir. Nurse said false advertising in her opinion. My wife has really good ears.

The blasted collar bone is the worst part of it. Hardly any pain just can't touch my collar bone with screaming like a little girl. Ice is your friend.:yawnb:

With the ski season upon us and me going for it, I am painfully aware that if/when I take a spill I might not get so lucky.

The bone was remove to create a larger channel for the rotator hoping it won't happen again plus arthritis in channel, which leads to rotator irritation and tearing.

Left torn in fall out of attic. I tore it again this summer lifting the grass bag off the lawn mower. 8 pounds? Just the wrong angle I guess. Still have to get it done and left hand.

Just a bump in the road. We'll go to a VA rehab center or burn center and see some folks with problems. I don't have any.

That still doesn't explain about your tenderloin.

You are doing the right thing in my opinion and that's discussing it with you doc.Sounds like an impingement issue but an MRI should tell them. Not a lot of room inside the shoulder. Toss in some extra calcium, bone spurs and/or scar tissue and you start squeezing stuff pretty easily.

Same here Rick,they say a year before they consider it a complete recovery,since they removed one of the vertebrae,they did take pieces of the vertebrae and reinsert it with the rods and plate,I am on a high calcium diet for the next 12 months,I have however gave up on the one a day vitamins I am supposed to be taking,because they were making me very ill. Glad you are up and about.

Did they install a titanium cage in place of the one they removed? They seed it with your bone and it rebuilds using the cage as a lattice. Really cool sci-fi stuff these days.

Yep,the boyfriend confirms (bless his heart and all he has had to put up with:) ) that is is a titanium cage.

A single vertebra won't slow you down much once healed. I think a fusion is a 3% loss of range if I remember correctly. I had a C5-6 fusion in '94 but didn't need the cage. They just fused them. My only complaint is arthritis. I'll be glad when you can remove the neck brace. I know how contemptible that thing gets. That 1st shower without it is heaven.

I am wearing a c-collar right now......gggrrrr,I can remove it long enough to take a shower,but OMG,I have had to track down a dickie,because it is rubbing my chest so badly that it is quite raw,especially a mole I have on my chest (2d,I swear to God,don't go there...) I could not imagine having it on during the summer.

You can't look down even to eat. You can't open your mouth all the way. You can't look left or right without turning your whole body. They didn't need to waterboard the detainees just make them wear a collar. The good news is it really does come off some day. Hang in there.

Yep,car rides are a nightmare,especially here in the country where they "forget" road maintenance,and a particularly nasty stretch of 65,very rough ride. I have figure out that when we go out,it's soup and a straw and to heck with what anyone else thinks!

Nell, try to sit straight up with back not touching the seat when th bigger bumps can be seen (pot holes, RR tracks, etc.). It allows the vehicle to move without you moving more than if you sit back in the seat. Just lean forward. You'll be amazed in the difference. It won't make it a good trip but more tolerable.

Tim Tebow is a local kid from here (Jacksonville). The rest of the country is just now finding out about him. He really hasn't changed since playing football here in high school. Short set back. I've developed an infection in the shoulder and the stuff they have me on let's me fade in and out. I was posting earlier and
"woke up" to a zillion i's on the page. Wonked out in the middle of typing. Kinda funny and I had to chuckle.

I have daily appointments the next few days so the surgeon can keep an eye on it. Hopefully the antibiotics and stuff will do their thing and we'll be back on schedule. Great guns, though, until this.

If I toss out something stupid just cut me some slack 'till I get back to it. Driving and typing on drugs is hard, ya know.

The suture line opened this morning and while that my not sound like a good thing it relieved the pressure on the shoulder and I feel Soooo much better. Yesterday was a genuinely bad day. I meet with the surgeon this morning so now we can chart a course to remove the infection and get rolling again. Thanks!

12 yrs. ago I had to spend a week in a hospital hooked to and IV antibiotic drip. (a course w/orals wasn't doing the job completely) Infections can be a nasty thing if not taken care of, but easily treated when caught early.

Heeeeeere's Johny.....or me. I'm back. The shoulder was cleaned out on last Thursday with a 4 day stay in the hospital with IV antibiotics. Then yesterday the shoulder opened and started draining again. Not to be all gross but this time the drainage is better (that's probably relative, I guess). They tried to culture the bacteria but didn't get anything to grow probably courtesy of the antibiotics I was on prior to surgery. They are making the assumption that it is Staphylococcus aureus since it is the most common post operative infection and they don't believe it to be MRSA based on what they are seeing.

As it stands, I see the surgeon again tomorrow morning and may be back in surgery again on Thursday.

If chicks dig scars, I'm working on adoration. At this point you can probably drive from here to Fargo using my shoulder as a road map. The good news is I lost 12 pounds in the last 4 days but not a diet I can highly endorse. Someone point me in the direction of the nearest windmill. I have jousting to do.

Just got back from the surgeon's and he is holding off on surgery. Still some drainage but the improvement over the last 24 hours has been pretty dramatic. Swelling has gone down and it just looks "good". I'm going to stay on the antibiotics and follow up with him. I think we've turned the corner!!

If any of you have contemplated surgery for trigger finger let me tell you it's a non-event. I've had no pain at all and but for the fact I had stitches in my hand I wouldn't have known anything had been done. It's sooooooo nice to have fingers that work again. Don't put it off if you need it. It's just not a big deal at all.
