Being serious serious for a moment. So many folks have made so many predictions over the course of several hundred years that some are sure to come true. In addition, IMHO, part of a prophecy is in the eye of the beholder. For example, I can predict a horrible water related disaster will occur in July of this year and somewhere on the planet a flood, mud slide, hurricane, typhoon....you get the picture. Someone can point to that event and say see how smart he was. Just coincidence.

I don't have a crystal ball (no crude remarks) so I don't know what will happen. I can only look at the past and project a similar occurrence in the future.

true how i perceive myself is not always how i react to situations. i did not put any thought into the y2k "crisis" but for some reason i put more thought into the Mayan scenario. it's the same question of what happens after you die many different thoughts and theories same plagues me about how and if/when the world will end many thoughts and theories.

On the topic it never says the world ends at 2012, I believe it says there will be a new beginning. It's the date the Mayan calender resets itself. The way the world is turning nowadays, it will be both the resetting of a calender and, in my belief, the return of Jesus.

What do you do if you can't reach the glacier? The water is too silt laden to drink without straining a couple of times. Any more silt and you could walk across some of the rivers.

Question for you. While I was there I kept hearing about how dangerous the silt was. I never tried it out so I don't know. The way they explained it to me was the silt was triangular shaped and wedged together if you stepped into. Wouldn't release you or release you with great difficulty. True?

They have so much to go through with the stares, embarrassment, anger, resentment, remorse for having those feels even though they are completely normal, and all the daily trials and tribulations. I've worked with the Developmentally Disabled, For almost a year I took care of two guys in their home who were quadrapalegic and I had to help them with everything: Toilet, bathing, dressing; you name it. I also worked at a workshop for others with varied disabilities as a job coach and many of them are now on the Special Olympics bowling and basketball teams that I sometimes haul back & forth to their events when ever they charter a bus, and they are awesome too watch! They and I consider ourselves close friends and if I've learned anything at all it's that most of them have better attitudes than us so-called "normal" people. I encourage any of you who can to get to know these folks in your community and, if you can, attend some of the Special Olympic Games; you'll be amazed!:cool:

I think that 2012 is the end of the mayan calendar. I listen to Coast to Coast AM at night and they sometimes talk about that. I have heard everything from the Rapture of Christians to Armagedden to space aliens visiting us on the White House lawn happening on that date.

Personally, I think the rapture is the most likely to happen but There have been other sects of the Christian world that have believed the rapture was to happen on a certain date... All went up on their rooftops to wait for it.. and it didn't happen.. so, I am reserving public judgement on that angle.. Who knows what is going to happen? We'll just have to wait and see.. won't be too long though.. Complacency won't set in too much I would think.. :D

But I can't hear in the same range as a woman's voice (hey, I don't make this stuff up, I just accept the gift). Anyway, I can't hear a smoke alarm so I thought I would post this for anyone else who might have a similar problem. It's called the Signal One Vocal Smoke Alarm and it was designed to wake up children faster than conventional smoke alarms (it does that by the way). It also is the only smoke alarm I can hear. I've changed all my smoke alarms in the house to the Signal One alarm. It has both the conventional tone and a voice alarm.

I do admit to some consternation when folks say something like the "government". To me, that's a cheap and easy way to blame someone else. I'd be much more impressed if they told me who in the government and why. For example, one might say, "I think the CIA wants to monitor everyone's phone conversations to determine if we are paying our taxes." At least I can understand what their beliefs are and their reasoning behind those beliefs.

That is excellent... I don't have a problem with smoke alarms though.. I hear them just fine. It is alarm clocks that I don't hear.. even the cell phone type. I wonder if that technology can be put into an alarm clock? That would be a really good market for that device. I know that the deaf community has alarm clocks that flash a light etc.. but you end up paying a small fortune for those. I may write to this company about their product. Thanks..

If the end comes, I hope I am standing at ground zero. Just think!! No Bacon! No Twinkies, No Ho Ho's and No coffee. Ok! Ok! Not on Ground Zero! I have Bacon in the freezer and Ho Ho’s stashed in my desk. There is Coffee in the pantry. We can wait till I use that all up.

Back in the 70's I knew a guy that planned for the end in a most serious way. I saw him back in 2000. He was old (80’s) and still waiting for the end to come, so he could say, "I told you so".

Several people, I know, were set for a years stay in their basements waiting on Y2K. I got some great buys in February 2000 on camping gear.
