Hello from Hungary

Hello Everybody,

My name is Tom and I live in Budapest, Hungary. Hungary is situated in the heart of Europe. It is a very small country but our nature is definitely beautiful. We have a really diverse country because we have hills, plains, the Balaton lake and nice rivers like the Danube or the Tisza. This area is quite good for a beginner hiker like me.

I am 25 years old and I was a runner for 8 years. Nowadays I run about 30-60min per day. I have started hiking some months ago and its taste is really good for me. I work at an international company as a customer support associate and I have to sit at the computer a lot. I speak obviously Hungarian, English and a little Spanish. I am happy to find this forum and meet a lot of great survivor.

Hello, we have some unique animals like the Puli (a small kind of dog), the Vizsla (a hunting dog), and so on... I don't really know about our fishes.
Where were you in Europe? Unfortunately I have never been in the US.

As I see the biggest part of the forum is at the overseas and I am relatively young here. But it means I can learn a lot from the more experienced guys like you. As I said unfortunately I have never been in America but it is one of my biggest dreams. My #1 dream is South-America, Peru and the Amazon Rainforest. I wish I could walk the entire length of the Amazon River as Ed Stafford did it before.

Welcome to the forum. I have never been to Hungary, but I did live in Poland for 2 years. I am sure the forests in Hungary are as beautiful as they are in Poland, if not better.

I have never been in the forests of Poland but I can tell you about the forests of Hungary. We had a lot of dense, nice forest but the deforestation is rising and rising. My parents live in a small village what is called Sződ. When we moved there it had a huge pine tree forest near. Nowadays it contains about 15-20 trees and they are chopping it... Certainly there are national parks where we can see real forests, high trees and untouched nature...
