Pink Grapefruit Tree wood

I Just got a Pice of Wood from a Pink grapefruit tree it's from the trunk area . Here's 2 picks of the log Need to get a Chainsaw to cut threw the Log Tryed to Use a Hand saw But the Wood is Really dence . In the Pics I Have it with the Bark On and Then Pulled What I Could of the Bark off the Log to Get a Look under it.
My Question ,Is this Wood Useable for Knife Handles . I Was Told It Has Been Sitting Outside for Over 8 Years and She Has a Few Big Logs of the wood If I i want it . Any Help on this Wood .

Any wood will make a handle. Most woods should (IMO) be stabilized. A test I use is to cut the wood into slabs for your handle and then place one of those slabs in a bucket of water. If it floats then it should (again, IMO) be stabilized. If it sinks (like Desert Ironwood) then it does not. The biggest thing will be the grain. Is it interesting when you slice it up. This is why burls are so popular. Slice it up and see what it looks like.
