Obviously many particular firearms will fit into different categories, and priories will be different.

I believe you could get way with:
12 ga shot gun
AR something larger than .223/5.56 upper
.22 something or other
.357 or Glock/Springfield w/barrel inserts.
Bow of some sort.

Idea being to cover bases with your ideal mix.
If your choices do double duty, so much the better, sorta hard to carry too many firearms at once.

I agree completely Hunter. I believe everyone should have a Mosin. Is it the most accurate? No. Is it the Prettiest? No. But it is accurate enough, rough, rugged, and proven over and over again. I can get them for $80 each and come with a full set of accessories, including bayonet. Another $500 and you have a 1000 rounds of commercial non-corrosive ammo.
8MM mausers are not much more than the mosins and carry the same benefits.

Don't get me wrong, one day I would love to have a Rem 700, but my Mauser and Mosin are good enough for the price they cost. Next summer is When I home to get my semi-auto center fire rifle. Hmmmm. AK or AR??????????

H&R topper 410 Shoots a slug pretty good.Good hog gun.

H&R Ultra in 308 Very accurate

older AR 15 in 223 Wish I had some those high capacity mags

Harritage arms 22 22mag revolver

Two 629 SW in 44 mag

Two handmade longbows and alot of handmade arrows

This may not sound like much but handles my needs. I have had the AR's for years but they will both put out alot of rounds quickly. I know,I know.Lots of guys will think I'm nuts choosing wheel guns over autos but I can fire off 12 rounds and reload pretty quick. Not as fast as you and your clips but how many clips do you have before your loading clips and I'm loading my 629's in seconds.IMO

I am thinking the AR route. AK's are half the price, but not nearly as accurate as an AR. I also like the endless accesories available for the AR. I also used an M-16 in the Navy and more familiar with it. I also like how .223 is readily available anywhere, even police cruisers if it is a realllllllly bad situation. Just my thoughts.

Oldtrap, i get what you are saying about reloading a wheel gun is faster than reloading mags. Think aboout this though. A pistol, for me, is a secondary firearm after my 12ga. I keep 25 rounds of 00Buck with it at all times. I also have 81 rounds in mags with my pistol. If a situation requires more than 106 rounds, I'm screwed no matter what and will be retreating no later than the time I'm down to two mags. The only thing that would change this is if I have more fighting along beside me. Don't get me wrong, wheel guns have their place. I just like speed if I got lead coming in my direction. JMHO.

It is easy enough to make caps for a percussion rifle by using a tool from Bass pro shop that punches and forms them out of soda cans. then just use the tip off a strike anywhere match as primer.

I have seen these around for a long time, most every one seems to use child's cap gun caps,.... never heard of any one using strike anywhere matches as a substitute.
So I guess my question has to be....have you done this,? ...if so how did the match head fit into a #11 cap housing?

Not trying to give you a bad time, but I thinking this isn't gonna work, and if it does, how reliable is it?

My way of thinking is the a flint lock is much more practual and reliable as it is a proven design, doesn't require you to purchase and stock anything except powder...Which, I understand is possible to manufacture.

I guess you could scrape some of the match head off the stick, pile it up and strike it with a hammer...like we used to do with cap gun caps...to try it.
But at this point I'm gonna chaulk those punches up as a feel good toy.
