I have finally arrived at the end of my preps. I've acquired, built, scavenged, found, borrowed, purchased (yeah, mostly that), or been given everything I'm going to get to survive another day. It has been a long process that started over 4 years ago but I've finally put in place all that I'm going to. Live, die or get pummeled I'm there. Right or wrong, I'm there. There really is a light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a train.

I thought I was nearly done but then someone here puts a bug in my ear about how great something is. And I get it, just in case.
This whole thing about better to have it and not need it... has ruined me.

No. no. I am a purpose driven man. Anal retentive is my middle name..okay, names. I can now buy stuff for the fun of it and not to fill some vacancy in the plan and to check it off some list.

It's funny you said that because this week-end is our annual garage sale for the neighborhood. 650 homes with junk to sale and I can't possibly make that many houses in three days. But I'm gonna try. Wish me luck.

I have finally arrived at the end of....the internet! It was late last night (or early this morning)- I have now visited every site online, and I have read every post on every forum. Hopefully, nobody will post anything else so i can go outside again.

Dang, i just got an email alert that someone updated their Facebook status- so I guess, I have to go check that out.

Seems our work is never done!

First thought that came to mind when I read Rick's post was,Is he giving up buying gas stoves at the rumage sales or any where else he finds them? Oh Yeah. I forgot to mention the lanterns too.:>) Just kidding Rick but iffin I was a betting man I'd lay money on you failing to keep this up. See. Like B said ," it only took 13 posts.":>) I just read post #7 again and I must apologize Rick. I didn't know that your plans called for (if I remember right) around #20 gas camp stoves. I admit I always understood all those lanterns.

Hey, ya'll believe what you want. My check list is checked off. I'm not talkin' about stuff I want but stuff that was earmarked specifically for preps. From Ammo to Waste Disposal (I didn't have an X, Y or Z).

Gave the clubs to my son-in-law. Nice set of graphites, too. And the travel bag. I kept the pass card to the 19th hole.

Nope, I just took it for granted it was pink after his neighbor ran the newspaper add wanting whoever stole her pink thong to bring it back.

You know, of course, she is 22 and weighs 107 pounds. It's not likely I could use her thong as a nose warmer let alone get my fat as....it wouldn't fit.

I just sold off almost everything that I own. What I'm taking with me on a move back to the east coast fits in 8 ammo cans (two are full), one gun case, two road cases and a duffel bag for clothes. How sad is that?

On the bright side I've finally found full time employment for the first time in two years. This means I'll be able to rebuild my preparations and quite a bit easier. Water's never really been an issue, I have enough food for me and the dog for two weeks if something goes terrible. Now I just need to find a small 5 to 7 acre farm where I'm moving to rent and set that bastiche up while I earn the money to buy my own land.

While I don't know the reason you sold everything (it's not important for me to know), I had a co worker that every time he moved he sold everything. We were generally asked to move every 18 months to 2 years on a promotion so he replaced everything every 2 years. His theory was that it cost nothing to move if you didn't have anything and he took the move money and bought everything new. On the other hand, I was sweating over what was going to get broken, how much insurance we had on the movers and what room the boxes would wind up in.

So, yeah, there's some great logic in selling it off if you are moving across country.

Buys stuff for the kids and grand kid, ships it down south....form the same stores that we have here????
made the mistake of asking "why don't you just send the money?".....Not doing that again.......

Firstest, he was making a joke. Secondest, when that giant heat ball comes crashing into earth the temperature will be just high enough to melt all your paraffin but not hot enough to ignite all my gasoline. We'll use my gas to drive by your place and point and laugh at the melted paraffin running down your drive way. So nanni nanni booboo.

If a person knew from the get go what he should have it wouldn't take nearly as long or be as expensive. I would buy something, try it out and think that will never work, and start over. I have a lot of "extra" gear but the main body of stuff has all it's going to get.

I can concentrate on play things now. (don't tell my wife)

What about the skills to survive without any of them?

That's the next step: Start culling those gadgets and replacing them with skills.
At least that's my mantra.
