I mean some of these are close to what Saddam had ! These are sweet , can you imagine a community getting together and actually having one of these constructed? I like the idea with connecting terminals , realistically speaking you could have as many terminals as you wanted with sections for say like a cafeteria , work stations ,gym ,etc , plus each having living quarters , Im sure if everyone pooled there money , had an undisclosed location with the land bought and paid for , you could have this clandestine community built without as much as anyone knowing it , preferably in a small rural community , put fencing around the acreage bought and saying it was a scientific ecological study center , who would know, even the government might not have knowledge!

I know it sounds far fetched , and would cost alot , the key question would be "who can you trust"? I mean lets face it , if 10 families were trusted with this knowledge , could they all be reliably trusted? Who would tell there friends , when we know the the fate is approaching , how many of the trusted families "tell friends" , how many "unwanted guests" would show up at the compound? How would you be able to seal the underground compound from the "inside" so the unwanted guests cant destroy the entrance (because the mentality would be "if I and my family wont survive neither will they" ) .

On an even more simple plan of having one of these in your backyard , all the neighbors know you are having this built , laughing and joking about it , your stocking up on food and essentials ,they are still laughing and joking , but guess what ? When disaster strikes , who's gonna show up at the entrance , you better be inside well in advance of the onslaught , because your great friends and neighbors who didnt plan anything and were laughing joking about you are gonna be at the entrance to your shelter and they are gonna want to get in , they will do what ever it takes to break the seal! There own survival depends on this!

I know questions like these are hard to imagine or even deal with , but you have to be prepared and ready and be the one who chooses...............

Everyone has a Good Friend that they would share the information with because they "know" that friend won't share that information with anyone else. :nono:

I have two lifelong friends that I "KNOW" I could share any information with and it would be kept a secret until their wives found out about it. Unfortunately their wives can not keep a secret about anything.

Before the "ladies" get in an uproar I know some men that can't keep any secrets either. :surrender:

If you hire a contractor to build it. He will share his " neat job" with a few buddies over a few beers and the Sunday afternoon football game.

There is a saying that was used in an organization I used to be affiliated with.

Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead.

Unless you're in a remote area on a lot of personal acreage and can do everything yourself, there's no keeping a secret.
This concerns me even on a smaller scale projects, such as a bomb shelter in your basement, secret tunnels/passageways, built in safes, secret walls/rotating bookcases, panic rooms, etc.

I can still remember the bomb shelters for the 50's and the few people in our small town that did build them.

It was impossible back the to keep it a secret and I'm sure it would be even tougher now, with all the social messaging spreading most everything world wide in seconds, complete with pic's.

The ones that did were sort of ridiculed by a lot of people, who of course didn't have the money or desire to share the conserns of a Nuke War.

I worry about me and mine.... and all the planned communty stuff is a good idea .....for someone else.

The best source of info for secret rooms is drug dealers and manufacturers.

The best idea I've seen yet for building a bunker was simple and genius.

A pot grower outside of Anchorage poured himself a concrete driveway. On each side of the driveway he dug 6 ft deep holes, every 4ft for pilings. He put in his rebar, poured the concrete.

Then he broke out a hole in his basement wall and removed the dirt from under the driveway. He now had a room with concrete pillars.

i would buy an old school bus and bury it, and not tell anybody, if friends knew about it and the need arose to use it they would expect to have the privlidge of co-existing in the shelter with you. if niehgbors knew about it or the whole street, how offended they would be if you locked the doors or selected one and not the other. like a strong arm robbery you could well be thrown out of your own shelter by everyones idea of "they need it more than you"..... you are probably better off not having one like the rest of 'em!

For me, it would be nearly impossible to get away with digging a giant hole on my property without local inspectors asking questions. My best bet would be to say it was something else and do it without permits in the beginning. I should be able to get to the point that I have a poured foudation without a roof attached to the foundation of my house before questions were asked. Then I could get denied permits, which would halt work. After that, I could find a way to roof it and bury it while telling curious neighbors that I was denied all permits so I filled it back in. I could also do as stated above, fill it in, pour a driveway, and dig it back out from the basement. It would be just like any other failed project though and no more questions would be asked.

If I lived in a more secluded area, I would have a pool dug to my designs. Piers could be poured and I would tell the concrete worker that it will be for something I am building in the future. No questions would be asked. Then it would be up to me to roof it again. Probably the best way would be to build a roof below the walls of the pool, put some dirt on it so it looks like ground, and conctract someone else to pour the roof, which I would tell them is a slab for a large shed or garage. The framing would be pretty intesnse though to support the slab roof.

It's not a matter of the questions raised, but your answers to them and how creative you can get. That and how nosey your neighbors actually are.

Well like I said I like the idea , and it pains me to think that the US government is actually building these bunkers so just in case there is something horrible ,out from the rubble Obama and Biden will still be able to "lead" our country! Why should the rest of us NOT have that as well! The only way to get this is by group , individually would cost a ton of money and safety would be a premium because of the "others" knowledge of whats being built!

I heard a while back a guy was building an underground community in California on the grounds of the old Japanese internment camps , people are encouraged to buy (condo like ) shelters ,inside , this community isnt supposed to be just for a a few or even several hundred , it is for up to a 1000 , now the idea is right , have people pay for a condo like shelter under ground , if you could sell enough units it might be feasable , also the added advantage would be to cut a deal with the contractors building it , drop the price significantly , they can have shelter for themselves and there family ,now not only is the secret intact but you also have hvac foreman to run the facility underground!

I'd opt for a facility like the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia. The once classified bunker kept a 30 year food supply on hand.

Easier and more fun, to be sure. But other than a handful of people who engage in extreme sports, I don't know of anyone who actually does it. Not even those who believe with certainty that they'll be going to heaven as soon as they check out.
