Walk'about from Paradise to Paradise

[Sourdough]

Time to field test myself and some new equipment. I'll fly out of Moose Pass to Upper Paradise Lake. Figure to walk'about from Upper Paradise Lake (If I can find a way across Snow River) down to Lower Paradise Lake for extraction. There are no trails in the area, so the new Kelty "Falcon 4000" pack will get a rude introduction to Alaska Bushwhacking 101. I figure to re-test the Swiss Volcano Stove, a new Peak-1 sleeping bag, and the newish Cabela's Boots, and my spawned'out, geriatric body. (Note: I hope that I will NOT be testing the new PLB)

I figure to explore the upper lake for several days, then bushwhack down to the lower lake for two days and weather permitting should be extracted by float plane from there.

But, but, but, wouldn't testing the gear be better closer to home? What if something like your pack fails miserably? Maybe falls apart? Or the sleeping bag has a factory defect and all the down feathers fly away? Or the hollow fill isn't hollow. As for the "newish" boots, two words, mole skin. Lots and lots of moleskin.

In any case, stay safe and you know the rules. Pics or it didn't happen.

(I think that winter in front of the TV turned him into a gear junky. PLB? What's next? An iPhone? GPS? Wii?)
