Spent some time wandering around the ruins Fort Frederica. This was a significant stronghold of the British in the 1700's in their battle against Spain over the "Disputed Territory".

Great pics. It's hard to imagine how difficult life would have been in that region in 1736. Mosquitoes alone would probably have taken a terrible toll from malaria. No interstate system in those days!

LOL, One guy actually showed up at a rondy in Spanish armor, pantaloons helmet and a match lock....all home made.
They told him it was "to early of a period".
So he took off most of the armor and shot the matches with the match lock......
Life had to have been tough back then.......

Nice pictures. I've been down that way 2 or 3 times, in the past month or so, but I don't get to do much sight seeing. LOL Mostly just the interstate and the flying J truckstop, in Brunswick Ga. LOL

Oops! The link I gave was to the wrong fort. Looking through the NPS site it does look like the do some cool stuff though. The demonstration on 18th century cooking looks pretty cool. http://www.nps.gov/fofr/index.htm

Great pictures, Crash! My wife and are heading to St. Simons in September for a bout 5 days. I have a friend who lives there and will be traveling for the month, so she is letting us stay there. We'll have to check out the fort, although I'm guessing my wife will want to visit the beach, too.
