Short review of "The One" by Legacy Knife Co.

I was one of the first to recieve "The One" by Legacy Knife Co, a custom knife maker. I've been meaning to get out with it and put it through it's paces, but it has been so hot and humid out here it's hard to get out. So these pics are from two different days and weeks apart. I stropped the blade just a little bit between the weeks but nothing serious.

One of the first things most people try out is to see if a knife will throw sparks. Here are my results.

You can see on the left side of the board that I got a piece off. I got too hot and was sweating like a pig, so I had to let it be. The cord wraping came lose, so I attempted to batton without. Don't do it. The vibrations will hurt your hands. Especially when you have a knot like the one I did.

So I got out earlier on Saturday and decided to do a little more. I went with IA Woodsman's idea of making a field handle for "The One" and liked it this way better.

I used the two feet of cord that The Infidel supplies with the psk to wrap around it. Using two feet comes out short so, I just wrapped it as tightly as I could and held it there with my thumb.

It can make notches for traps.

The dandle added better leveage and made it easier to throw sparks. Regardless, I knew it would and I didn't want to bust my hand on concrete so I cheated by using a lighter.

"The One" perform nicely. I need to sharpen it a little bit now because I did somethings I really didn't want and would never do with a normal knife. I used the edge of the knife to make the scrapings and tested the edge for sparking. It took the abuse and I'm satisfied with it's performance. I think this is a nice piece of equipment that an individual can put into their PSK kit. Thanks for the time.

A side note, if you have a wire saw in your kit, please try it. I used mine and had something happen that I would have never thought. The saw did not break, but one of the rings on the end unwound on me. I got to looking and saw that it was smaller than the other. My saw came with an extra ring, so I replaced it with the normal sized one.

Wire saws are notorious for handle failures.

Very nice review. You're out there doing it and that's whats important. It's been crazy hot to be in the field and tough just to breathe that's for sure.
